I've baked a few loaves of bread in this pan and all have turned out great; the pan provides nice even heating and the loaves did not stick to the pan. As cast iron pans go, this one is not terribly heavy, which I like. But I'm careful not to bang the handles on anything. They look like they might crack off if the pan dropped or hit anything hard.     • LOVE my lodge 8.5 x 4.5 bread pans!
I bake home made bread every day in my Lodge bread pans. They are perfectly non-stick when I use LARD to season them. Lard works the best. Over three decades now I have tried every oil to season my cast iron and LARD is the original pioneer GOLD standard for getting NON-STICK pans. Avocado oil works too but I prefer lard because I can store it in my fridge for years without it going rancid like other oils do. I bought two Lodge bread pans and I have a Lodge 3.5 quart combo cooker Dutch oven and 2 Lodge fry pans that I use every day. Do not wash cast iron with soap. I use my Lodge red plastic scraper to remove food bits. Then I resets on with LARD after every use. ... show more
