I've never owned a pair of Timberland boots. I always just saw rappers and urban-dwellers sporting them more like a fashion trend than a functional hiking boot. I figured that's all they were. Soo... time comes I need a new pair of hiking boots after my 8-year-old HiTecs (which I loved) got tore up by volcanic rock and I run across Timberlands as an option. After doing a bit of research I discover that they are highly-rated (for a mid-priced boot) and have a long history of making solid, reliable boots. I liked the clean lines and construction of an all-leather-upper boot compared to the overly-complicated construction of others I was considering (Merrill, Keen, etc...). I fell in love with the look of the Castle Rock color and pattern. I know... you should'nt buy a tool cuz it's pretty. Tools are meant to be used and should look like they get used. I truly believe that and I am over-all a very utilitarian kinda guy. That said... I loved the way these looked. I loved them even more when I pulled them from the box! The photo's do not do the Castle Rock version justice. I found myself worried that I might not want to hike in them... they'ld get dirty! But hike in them I did and I could not be happier with my choice. These boots are comfortable almost right out of the box. They are super light for an all-leather boot. Looooong laces allowed me to lace them to shape everything around my foot and lock them to my heel. They are warm without being hot. The sole is super sticky on every surface and whisper quiet when walking indoors on hardfloors. Don't usually care about how quiet my hiking boot is but for some reason it really impressed me! They are so comfortable that even after wearing them for 12-14 hours straight I found myself not wanting to take them off. Soooo comfortable... and did I say they look awesome?? I got em dirty from snow, mud, streams, filthy puddles; red-clay dirt, etc... They cleaned right up like new! They kept my feet warm in the snow, dry in the streams. I love these boots! I will buy them again! Did I say they look awesome?? :) Regarding the fitment... I have a wide foot and typically I do a 10.5 wide in most other shoe styles (athletic, business, dress, etc...). With hiking boots I've found that Im a solid 10 and with some brands I do not need the wide. I ordered accordingly... 10 regular. They were comfortable but a bit snug. I returned them and went with the 10-wide. Perfection! Got a wide foot? Go for the wide option. Watch some vids on ways you can lace a boot to fit your foot's unique shape and you can really dial these in. The D-rings are steel and strong and rivetted to the upper. The four lacing hooks at the top are also riveted. They are a little shallow to support a surgeon's knot lace method but it works just fine. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with these boots! Get them. Dont even think twice! Go for the Castle Rock, version. They look so good I find myself wanting to wear them in lieu of any of my other shoes.

I bought these boots for my job, I am a landscaper. The Timberland Men's Mt. Maddsen Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot is a fantastic choice for outdoor enthusiasts. The boots are incredibly comfortable, providing excellent support for long days outside. The waterproof feature kept my feet dry even during wet conditions, and the durable construction gave me confidence on rocky and uneven terrain. The traction is superb, ensuring a steady grip with every step. Overall, these boots combine style, comfort, and functionality, making them a must-have for any landscaper Highly recommend! Got these Timberland's for my 23 year old son who went to Iceland with friends. They just got back today, and these boots were perfect. He said they did grueling hikes, up rocks and rough terrain, crossed streams, saw the tallest waterfall in Iceland. Went through all kinds of weather including sunny days in 60's and rainy days in mountainous terrain and much colder. He said they were great right out of the box, like putting on sneakers. Stayed comfortable the whole time, and 100% waterproof. He had a good pair of hiking socks which fit nicely into an accurate fit for his shoe size. His two friends did not do as well, paid way more for other hiking boots and both ended up with blisters! And btw, these boots still look great and nearly brand new! Got the Grey Nubuck, nice color. I was expecting shoes to be totaled, but they still are very good, no water stains at all! Very happy with this purchase!

These Boots are Awesome!!! Very Comfortable!!! Yes, they do feel like a sneaker. Size Fit: I take a 10.5 Wide Sneaker. The 10.5 Wide Boot was too big. Ordered 10 Wide Boot. Fit Perfect!!! So, keep that in mind when you order. I'd give these boots 4.5 Stars if I could. My only complaint was that the Shoe Laces were way too long. I ended up buying Miscly Round Boot Laces [1 Pair] Heavy Duty and Durable Shoelaces for Boots 54 inches from Amazon. Perfect!!!

I have had these boots for a little over 2 years. Top quality and definitely bang for the buck. Have used these boots not only for hiking but also for snowshoeing. They are very comfortable in any environment and worth purchasing.

I am on my feet all day. My job is very physical. And I visit a chiropractor once a month; been doing that for 4 years. These boots, after a few days of wearing them, are a godsend. My feet, ankles, knees, hips, and back, feel much better now. Still tired at the end of the day, only not sore in the fore-mentioned places. It makes sense to wear hiking boots if you are on your feet all day. Hiking boots are made to walk in, most steel toe boots I have worn are not. I opine that if you have back problems or knees that hurt, these boots may be for you. These are the first Timberlands I have owned or worn. You can believe I will be buying more. The insole and sole are the best I have experienced. Very comfortable. Plus, they look good. Overall an excellent pair of boots. UPDATE: 22 June 2024 It is only fair, after giving an excellent review of these boots, that I give you an update. These Timberlands are still going strong. I wear them and work in them every day for the past year. Rain, sleet, snow, mud, intense heat, dust, etc. My boots have walked thru it all. Not even a broken stitch. The sole is still good as new, not even a hairline crack for water to seep in. These boots keep my feet dry and warm in winter, dry and cool in summer. My back, feet, and ankles, still feel great. Best boots I have ever worn. I fail to recommend these boots by Timberlands highly enough.
