I have another of these and simply wanted one of a different color. Though expensive they last forever and, believe it or not, a warrantied for life including against loss. I believe there are conditions for that warranty but still... Best hat I ever owned.

I ordered the Navy version of this which despite the description in this listing is the T3 Wanderer hat and not the 'Steve B Ivy Hat.' The weave of the cotton was a little looser, seems to not hold it's shape as well and when held up to the light I could see through the crown of the hat. I returned it due to wanting a different color and ordered a T3 Wanderer khaki sold by Amazon and not a third party. When I received the new one it was apparent the quality was different from the one I sent back. The snaps on the side were misaligned on the old one and they were perfect on this one. The cotton material was a much thicker weave and I couldn't see through the sides like I could with the other one. Bottom line, for something that is priced like this be sure and order from Amazon directly to ensure the real thing. The low price is enticing but you might end up with a fake.

I entered the hat game a couple of years ago when, on a whim, I bought a black Adidas sun hat for about $20. I spend a lot of time outside and wearing a hat completely changed my life. Last year I started noticing signs of wear and realized it was going to be time for an upgrade soon. I was at a local outdoors outfitter one day and decided to try some on. One of the associates came over and told me all about Tilley, and long story short, I left with the olive drab T3 Wanderer because it was the only color they had. I've never been super happy about the color because I prefer black, but I adjusted because it was a great hat. You can imagine my excitement when I got around to checking Amazon and found they have the T3 in black! I ordered 2 right away (different sizes, JIC). When they arrived, I was shocked to find they felt completely different AND had brass snaps and grommets. Well, turns out I ordered the T3 Classic and not the Wanderer so I returned them and ordered the black T3 Wanderer in the same size as my original olive drab one. When the T3 Wanderer arrived, I was greeted by a much closer representation to what I expected however.... It's still not quite the same as my original T3 Wanderer. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great hat, and I hesitate to give it 4 stars and not 5 but after about a week of wear and inspection, it is definitely not produced with the same quality as the original. It's hard to quantify the differences but here goes: 1. The new one feels like it's made of slightly lighter weight and flimsier material. I'm trying to account for sweat/mineral, and dirt accumulation in my assessment and I recall my original being much stiffer initially. 2. The brim is pretty floppy and wavy when the sides are not snapped up. I wear mine snapped most of the time though so perhaps it will conform after some wear. 3. Perhaps *MOST IMPORTANTLY*, the sizing is definitely different. My original is a 7 1/2". I ordered the same size in the black version and it is noticeably smaller. This happened to work out just right for me because my original one was a little loose. Not enough to bother changing sizes because I assumed the next size down would be too small. My original T3 Wanderer would easily touch my ears and my new one, again same size 7 1/2", just barely touches them if I pull it down. I wouldn't discourage anyone from buying this but I think it's important to expect there to be some difference if you've experienced an older model T3 Wanderer. Some other reviews painted this has a total piece of trash and that is absolutely not the case. Granted, I haven't really put it through it's paces yet but I think it will hold up just fine.

We purchased 2 of these hats 4 months ago in Olive and Navy. Loved them so much that we chose to buy the black one when they introduced the new color. The new hat was flimsy, floppy, didn't hold it's shape, appeared to not have any waterproofing, and was simply a bucket hat that you could get anywhere for $15... Pure garbage. Tilley is manufacturing this great hat differently but still depicting as the old firm style on their website and on Amazon. The "new" Tilley Wanderer is pure garbage.
