Amazon sent a medium instead of a large - not a great option for our 90-pound big bad marshmallow. We decided to let him chew it, under strict supervision, to see if the shape worked. He seems to like it but cannot really get a good grip on it with his giant paws, so we are unsure if we would ever order a new one, hoping to get the right size. My German Shepherd is hard on toys. We pretty much have to avoid anything cloth, squeaky or soft as they won’t last a day before becoming a shredded pile on the floor. That doesn’t mean we can just give him bones or rawhide though. Bones can splinter and are hard enough to fracture a dogs premolars and rawhides are swallowed too fast and upset his stomach. Some nylon toys are just a little “too tasty” or fragile, so that large pieces can break off which would be a choking or GI blockage risk. This dog chew seems to hit the sweet spot for our dog. Nylon based with a little beef flavor to get him interested. He took the toy right after unboxing and gnawed happily on it for about 30 minutes under my direct supervision. After this initial chew session, I was happy to see the Ruts and gouges of a sturdy chewed toy and no pieces missing. This means it should have a several week life in rotation with his other tough chew toys. He has taken breaks and gone back to it several times so I know he enjoys and approves of his new bone. My only complaint is that I clearly marked Large on my order, but was sent a medium which is supposed to be for dogs under 70 pounds. It’s still not small enough to be a hazard, but I would have preferred the large. ... show more

As far as nylon bones go this is a good one. My dogs love it. I think it will last a very long time. My only concern is how harmful is the bone if small pieces are ingested. After my dog had it for 10 minutes or so you can see small pieces get scrapped off. I have to imagine my dogs, even if on accident, probably ingests small pieces. The package says "The product is not intended to be eaten or ingested. If you think your dog swallowed a piece, take the product away and contact your veterinarian." I don't think my dogs will eat a chunk but does the above warning apply very small pieces? Because of that I feel the need to supervise them while they chew on it. That's my reason for taking a star. I prefer antlers because I can give it to them and forget about it. ... show more

Our dogs chew badly, everything from fencing to collars to leashes to walls. It's really hard to find a toy for them that they can't destroy in literal minutes. This has lasted for over a month with very very little wear, and only on the top of the bone. Our Great Dane chews on this all day, and it's still perfectly fine. just normal chew marks, but she hasn't been able to whittle away at it like she can with others. ... show more

My dogs both liked this! It has a faint beef smell to it which they both noticed right away. I think they liked that it didn’t sit evenly on the floor - it kept them trying it out in new positions. One or the other of the dogs had it most of the afternoon, so it definitely held their interest. And even after hours of chewing, it has held up just fine - much better than some of their other bones. Im glad i got the large - I have a 28lb and 50lb dog, and they both were very happy with this size. I’m happy with this bone! ... show more

We have two very destructive dogs who chew every toy to pieces. It is hard to find one that will last more than a week. This has been very popular with both of them and it has no chunks out, just chew marks so far. The x shape is great for them to 'hold' while chewing.
