  • Great Skin Care Routine - Small but Purposeful
Style: 4 Piece Set
Tiege Hanley skin care system is a small but good kit. I know for the price we all expect more. And it makes sense. According to the instructions, larger doesn't exactly mean you need it. It will just make it last longer between purchases. This is a good 30-45 day use kit. I've been using this off and on for about a year. In between, I've tried other facial products (ex. Cera-Ve). In comparison, I like how Tiege works for my face. Clears up any possible bumps and cleans my face nicely. Skin is soft and even some dark marks clear up. Smells nice and not overpowering. Instructions in the box are simple to follow. When indicated to use a nickel sized amount, please use a nickel size. It makes it last longer and you really don't need more. I learned this through trial and error. Love the AM lotion and face wash the most. The scrub is good. Definitely only use the scrub 2 times a week or else it could irritate your skin (abrasive). PM lotion gets a bad rap because it doesn't seem to do anything but it does. Moisturizes for the night before you go to sleep and it helps to control breakouts and overall dark marks. I use this kit coupled with Bevel's aftershave lotion (that's a whole other review..great though). This kit is worth purchasing. I wish the price was lower but...eh. It's less than what you would spend in one day on daily food while at work (breakfast and lunch or a dinner). ... show more

  • Not Great But Definitely Has Some Good Spots
Style: 4 Piece Set
Before I get into the negatives of why I don't like this I'm going to at least say what this does right so I don't come off as completely negative. Positives: The entire set comes in a nice package so there are immediate points for presentation, the bottles definitely look nice and I also like how I got a code to use on the direct website. The face wash also feels smells pretty solid and is nice to use and rightfully so. Negatives: The portions. I have so many questions for this because why in the world would you use a nickel's worth of both the face wash AND the exfoliant? The face wash already lathers up quite a bit and an exfoliant should maybe be used 1-2 times a week, but NOT a nickel size worth. A dime and 1/4 of it at most. As for the exfoliant it smells ok however maybe it's just me but my eyes always get this burning sensation whenever i use it and it isn't very pleasant compared to what I was using prior. I didn't even mention the bottle sizes. The face wash is so huge and yet the rest are tiny in comparison. Not only is this illogical and weird but i feel like the bottles were maybe a bit bigger contrary to what the picture shows. Now the moisturizer oh man. I think I hate these more than the exfoliant. Now I do like that you have one for the DAY (and it has SPF 20 which is a plus even tho 30 is more effective), and one for the PM, however I hate not only the portions (literally a DIME WORTH), but the outcome is not that good. A moisturizer when applied should feel smooth and nice on your face. For me it feels like it's not enough, my skin is rough and dry, and like I said the portions feel like it's not enough and I'm talking about both the AM and PM. Overall I think these products aren't great but some aspects of them can definitely be improved upon. Once that's done I'll consider it again. Until then I'll finish the rest of my 30 day supply and try elsewhere. 6.5/10 ... show more

  • Mediocre Products at Best - Sold at a Premium Price.
Style: 4 Piece Set
This product isn't bad, but it is also not great. It offers a mediocre quality, but for a much much higher price than other products which are significantly better than it. Therefore it is very hard to recommend this to anyone. I'll offer a product-by-product breakdown below. Because some of them are decent and others are plain bad. Facial Cleanser (3/5 stars): This is probably the best product in the line. I'll be honest I actually kind of liked it. It lathered up nicely and had a nice fragrance. Although, I am confused because I was under the impression that it was fragrance free. Normally you wouldn't want to use fragrances while CLEANING your face. A cleanser is designed to open up your pores and pull stuff out of them, but now you are rubbing in fragrance chemicals. Plus, you will wash whatever fragrance it has away as soon as you wash your face. But the product lathers up nicely and it made me feel clean. I did feel like it left my face very dry. Since the next step is adding lotion then it's not too bad. But still felt unneccesary. The product is also a decent size (unlike anything else in this kit). So you are actually getting a 1 month supply. Overall I was happy. I still prefer other cleansers to this one, like Cerave "Hydrating Cream to Foam Cleanser". It is truly fragrance free, offers a more consistent application, and doesn't dry your face. Plus you get a much better product like that, while also saving about 50% or more in cost. But it isn't even exclusive to that product, you can go buy La Roche Posay for less than this product and that's considered a "premium" brand. So even though this product is decent, it's hard to recommend it, when you can go buy objectively superior products for much less money. AM Moisturizer and 20 spf (1/5 stars) This product is a very uninspiring product. It wasn't all that moisturizing, and the SPF sunscreen is a joke. First of all, this is a very oily moisturizer. Which is weird for a company that tries to make a "one size fits all" product for men. Most men are going to have normal to oily skin, which means you shouldn't use an oily moisturizer. So this product is mostly for people with dry skin IMO. Maybe the idea is that the cleanser dries out your skin (since it does) and then this product can go with it to moisturize you back up. The problem is the size of the container tiny. It is the same size or smaller than what some of what the other brands like Neutrogena and CeraVe, and Cetaphile sell as their travel sizes. So once again, I struggle to understand the value here. The product itself is once again "ok" as a moisturizer. I would probably give it 2/5 stars except for the sin they commit with sun protection. So most AM moisturizers have sun screen in them. The problem is that most dermatologists recommend a minimum of 30 effective SPF for daily use. They use the word effective, because sunscreen usually loses 40% of its spf factor when rubbed in to be invisible. This is why you generally see the recommendation to buy 50 spf minimum. Because a 50 spf sunscreen rubbed in to be invisible is actually only 30 spf, which is the real desired goal. But this product is only a 20 spf to start. Which means that best case scenario you are getting 12 spf from this. But it's even worse when you look at the product size. It is only .75 fl oz in the 1 month supply. That means you should only apply 0.025 fl oz per day. You can see the recommended amount in the second picture, which is a tiny dollop. Spread that across your entire face, cheeks, forhead, nose and it's actually funny that they think you are getting any value out of it in either SPF production or moisturization. This is well less than 1/4 the recommended rate which means that 12 spf is likely 1-4 spf or effectively negligible. It isn't doing anything. So many alternatives exist from TESTED brands you can buy anywhere that actually give you the recommended amounts and are also far far less expensive. Better products exist, that are easier to attain, which are tested to be safe by dermatologists (unlike this one), and cost less money. Are you seeing a trend? PM Moisturizer (2/5 stars): This product is fine. See the above. I feel very little difference between the AM and PM moisturizers in this kit with the exception being that the PM is less oily than the AM. I bet this is the pointless sunscreen they are adding to the AM which makes it oily since it is probably a mineral based sunscreen which makes sense. This product is ok. Nothing special. The same 0.75 fl oz that is supposed to last you a whole month (insert laughing here). Its fine though, although if you got a little more of it, you could actually benefit from more thorough application which would be much better for your skin. Once again there are a ton of available options for all sorts of skin types from all sorts of respected and tested brands which all cost less money. So it becomes difficult to recommend this one for anyone. This product is "meh". But just go buy a good one for less money. Scrub (0/5 stars): Avoid this product at all costs. I actually believe that this is going to cause more harm than good to your skin. These pumice chunks are huge. Once again, look into dematological studies that are now considered common knowledge to all dermatologists today, which discourages aggressive scrubs on your face. These aggressive scrubs can cut your skin with micro abrasions which with repeated treatment can significantly increase skin conditions. I tried this product once, thinking it was using the microbead abrasions that a lot of the "physical abrasion" products use now. But this product started cutting me immediately. Upon looking, there are very noticeable sharp pumice pieces in this product in a very chemical, skin-drying suspension gel. You can see in the attached image how big and sharp these pieces are. They have sharp corner edges! It's crazy honestly. My face was red and painful for 2 days after using this product. I threw away the scrub after one use. This is a scrub from the 90s when we thought this type of scrubbing was good for you. Many dermatologists now say you can skip the scrubs if you are cleaning your face regularly. If you want to use a scrub, use a chemical based hydroxy acid scrub. These usually say AHA, BHA, or PHA depending on the strength of the exfoliate (AHA being the most aggressive and PHA being the least). These products don't require physical abrasion tools like pumice or even the silicon microbeads (which is the safe abrasion recommended today). They tend to actually open up your pores better and don't cause abrasions on your skin layer, so they are safer. Once again, you can buy these types of products for much lower prices than this, and they will actually help you not hurt you like this product. Which is why I just say to stay away. Conclusion: So why did i give this a 2/5 stars. Well I entirely recommend you actively avoid the scrub, I think it is a harmful product. But the other products are ok. They aren't anything special, but they aren't horrible. They are just a mediocre or slighly below average skin product that I assume is ok for you. If you saved a lot of money, then I would say go for this if you can't afford something better. But parodoxically, this product is somehow more expensive than much much much better products from reputable brands. I'm not trying to push any brand in particular, but brands such as CeraVe, Cetaphil, Neutrogena, La Roche Posay, are just a few of the brands that have had clinical testing for safety and effectiveness. All of these brands would come in much cheaper than this product per ounce. The only exception is maybe La Roche Posay, which is imported from France and comes in at a similar pricepoint to this Tiege Henly. I personally use a combination of CeraVe and Neutrogena products. THey have a wide variety for different types of skins, fragrance preferences, sizes, etc. Plus you can find all of these brands I list at your local corner drugstore, big box store, or here on amazon without subscriptions or funny business. They are cheaper and more effective. I ended up using these products for about 2 weeks and just couldn't see getting any value over these other brands. Neutrogena for example has a moisturizer that is called "gel cream" which is heavinly smooth and silky. It feels so premium and makes your skin feel so good, yet it is less expensive than this product which feels like a dollar store knockoff moisturizer, but costs almost double. So why would I engage in that? I gave it a shot, but just can't continue. ... show more
