Very nice thick mat I set up in my shop with a net to let my grandson practice hitting. Mat is heavy duty and well made and fake grass is very durable. It is large enough so you do not step off of the mat, plenty of room to move around. Has a nice carry strap to move around and it really grips well on my concrete floor. Be aware that the outside of the shipping box is marked in huge print what the contents are, so if you're ordering for Christmas or other gift, make sure it's delivered somewhere the gift receiver won't see it and ruin the surprise. I ordered this to give my son for Christmas-fortunately my husband saw it on the porch and hid it before my son got home from school. I unpacked it to check it out and am really happy with the quality. The fake turf is really secure and doesn't shed. It's also very stiff and gives good traction on your feet. Maybe it's not for metal or spike cleats, but I think my son's molded rubber cleats will be fine. Baseball turf shoes should also be fine. It's very thick and cushioned and seems like it will be waterproof and ok to leave outside. I got it for my son to add to his baseball field at our house, so I expect it will be outdoors all year long. My son will be thrilled to get this for Christmas. He's always looking for accessories to add to his field and I know he'll love this. All of his friends that come over to play are going to want one too! ... show more

This is really nice for your backyard or driveway, but I also like the portability of it so I can to several different parks that might not have a ball field and use it. The rubber underlayment is really good for anywhere. It's a lot lighter than I was thinking it would be, and the carrying strap is a nice feature. Only downside, which was somewhat expected when I clicked order is that it's not meant for cleats. Now, this may seem petty, but I do wonder what other corners were cut with this, but I've deducted a star simply because when i ordered this, I was annoyed, but I see it's still there, but the 2 images of batters each are standing on this backwards. I would think the guy photoshopping them in could've done some homework to place them correctly... and that does concern me if you go cheap on marketing, where else did they go cheap on. I'm sure I'll find out soon enough after some more use of this thing. ... show more

Large, well made, good grip: This mat is very large and perfect for indoor batting practice. Given the large size, I'm not worried about stepping off of the mat and becoming unbalanced while swinging, even with my larger frame (6'2"). The materials seem pretty sturdy and the mat is clearly well made. The mat also has a good grip on the ground even when used on flat indoor surfaces, which gives good peace of mind that I won't become unbalanced when swinging. This baseball mat is designed to be used in a batting cage or a gym... but it also works well in a backyard. We have always struggled with a batting tee placement, because you can't line up your feet relative to the plate and batter box. This hitting mat solves that problem!
