  • Bucky!!!
I’m just happy to have another item with Bucky on it, and for another movie with him as a major character to have been released 🤩

  • Feel good movie
One of my favorite marvel movies in recent years. Tv show and B-tier marvel movie payoff.

  • Overrated, Depressing, No Team Chemistry - Didn't Like Female Lead's Portrayal Or Her Character
Disappointing and overrated - perplexed by rave reviews for a movie that has gone mainstream so quickly after a very disappointing box office. This film's team (cast) and many other characters were not well-known (B-listers) and not as interesting as those in "Avengers" or "Guardians of the Galaxy". The storyline's theme heavily features mental illness. That seems over-the-top and contrived (depressing for a Marvel flick.) I thought the fight scenes were poorly executed. The costuming and cinematography were fine but the special effects seemed hurried. I think that the whole superhero film genre is getting overdone and become tiresome especially when some battle storyline elements look too similar. I feel that too much of this film’s plot revolved around Yelena. And to that end, Florence Pugh did not pull it off and was miscast - she failed to bring her character to life beyond reading the script nor did she add realism and intensity to her portrayal - kind of a flat performance. I find that she acts the same in every film with her limited range of facial expressions which is pretty much limited to looking bored. The others put in OK performances but with little chemistry. Olga Kurylenko was wasted in this film - she may be older than Florence but would have been a much better choice for that part. She has great screen presence and her fight scenes in such films as The Courier and Sentinel are outstanding and believable. She has the acting chops to deliver a truly impactful lead performance and her range of nuances are far superior to Pugh's. Reviews are subjective but I didn't care for this film and its fixation on mental problems or as one reviewer referred to this as pathos (really?). "New Avengers" has conveniently been added to the title. Take a pass. ... show more

  • 4 star movie but what's up with the prices??
I definitely liked this movie enough to buy it BUT the rampant price gouging of new Blu-rays and 4K discs is outrageous! We are not cash Piñatas! You can't just whack us and money falls out for you to grab up. I don't know who is doing the pricing, whether it's Disney or Amazon, but CUT IT OUT!! Stop jacking up the prices with every new release!!! I'm never choosing movies over food. JFC! Just stoppit! ... show more

  • Artless anticlimax
Florence Pugh's performance was engaging and the movie was one of Marvel's recent bests -- until the totally hokey ending that was telegraphed a mile away. It was like a Super Friends cartoon. Why not have Mel rescue the team with the kill switch followed by the Thunderbolts hunting down Valentina and Holt. Bob learns to cope in therapy and later joins the team with his powers under control. Mel is rehabilitated as Avengers Operations Manager. ... show more

  • Immediately wanted to watch it again
With a good mix of action, comedy, heart, and pathos, I enjoyed this film way more than I anticipated. Everything about it was great: the story (dark themes, more grounded); writing (earnest, funny, emotional, motivations made sense); directing (felt very imaginative with a distinct vision, allowed quiet moments space and time to breathe); acting (Pugh and Pullman break hearts, Louis-Dreyfus pitch perfect, every actor on point for this one); soundtrack (Thunderbolts theme is aptly somber, hopeful, and triumphant in equal measure); characters (flawed but lovable loner misfits trying to find purpose, get along, and be better); choreography/stunts (great action in the fight scenes, shows different fighting styles of the characters, actors doing own stunts, practical effects, less CGI); sound design (street scenes and everything Void related were standouts, each blip sound was felt); costume design (sweats when depressed, suits were great, loved Ghost's costume); cinematography (gritty, fantastic camera shot/placement/movement variation and use of focus); and editing (holding on long reaction shots and quiet moments, void transitions smooth). Hire a good cast and crew, get a good movie. Here's hoping we see more of them. Thunderbolts is one of Marvel's best yet also good as a self-contained story on its own. Highly recommended. ... show more
