5 3x a day was the best. In the beginning I tried this but gave up because I didn’t see any results within a week but the key is consistency. I’m now taking 5 2x a day because I’m running low and it’s still keeping everything in check but 3 x is better. Sometimes I took it w meals other times empty stomach can’t say which one worked best . I had no pain taking 5 at a time but to be safe start slow. I suspect I need to be on these for 3 plus months. I’m experimenting w something else in a few days but once I know how I’m doing on the other supplement I’ll add this again. These are small I pop all 5 at once easily. Overall pretty great just have to be patient.

I have been using this product now for nearly 3 weeks and many candida overgrowth symptoms are very reduced, some eliminated. The ONLY reason I did not give it 5 stars: THE DOSING DIRECTIONS ARE NOT GOOD! A relative who is a doctor recommended this product, along with Pau D'Arco. We failed to discuss dosage (won't make that mistake again!!!). On Day 1, I took the recommended 5 capsules with breakfast, lunch and dinner. By 11 pm I was violently ill - the sickest I have been for a long time, including stomach pain and tenderness. I was fine by morning. I called my relative - we decided to use 1 capsule 3x per day, slowly building to 3 capsules 3x per day. So far so good!! Generally I am not oversensitive to supplements. I feel that the dosage recommendation on the bottle is rather irresponsible. I have also cut out alcohol, sugar and am eating low carb, so "starve" the candida of what it loves.

I was diagnosed with systemic Candida after 2 decades of eating mostly fast food and having no idea what gut flora was or how it affects your health. I was given an anti fungal prescription by my doctor, but the Rx was also poisoned my liver when taken at dosages high enough to kill my overgrowth. I spent hours and hours reading about what to eat and what supplements kill Candida, but weren't harmful to my body. After reading about UA (Undecenoic Acid) and its use in WWI and WWII to cure fungal growth in service members, I tried it. The directions call for 5 capsules, 3 times daily which gives you about 3.5g of UA. The articles I read about our service members called for 7g/day for 30 days, so I rolled with that amount. I'm not recommending anyone else take that dose. I'm simply telling you my experience. Along with a completely clean diet of non-GMO, non-antibiotic chicken, turkey, sourdough bread, almonds and almond butter washed down with PH-balanced water, I took 30 capsules a day, 10 capsules 3 times a day. In about 3-4 days, I could feel a difference. My energy levels started to come back, my strength started to come back, my short term memory even improved. The brain fog I had suffered for months was leaving and after 3-4 weeks, belly fat started disappearing. My uncharacteristic depression that had taken hold of me on and off as a result of my systemic Candida was gone. I also had shortness of breath from the lining of Candida in my lungs and that, too, is gone. After being on the Rx for almost 90 days and having to get my blood tested every 3-4 weeks to check my liver's health, I stopped taking it after a week using the UA and haven't even missed it. Mind you, during that 3 months, I felt no improvements in any of the areas I listed and it was harming by body. After 30 days with Thorne UA, I was the me I remembered years from ago. Vibrant, physically and mentally healthy, and no die off symptoms at all. Anyone that has had to deal with Candida die-off knows how miserable the headaches and body aches can be. In the past, if I strayed from my strict diet at all, I always had die-off symptoms while on the Rx. Because the UA killed off most of my Candida and does a phenomenal job at keeping it at bay, I no longer have any die-off symptoms and can eat out with my family from time to time without worrying about being 'hungover' for the next 24-48 hours. I have been using Thorne UA for over 3 months now and am so grateful to them for making such a wonderful, safe product. I have learned so much about gut flora, healthy eating and nutrition, I am now enlightening health care professionals that used to just push their choice of Rx on their patients and are now sold on Thorne UA. I have talked with several people in the last 3-4 months that have similar symptoms to mine. I always recommend they get tested at their Dr's office to see if they do have Candida and if their Practitioner isn't aware of Candida (many aren't), educate them. The friends that have been diagnosed and have used Thorne UA all agree that it is a life saver.

I have taken thousands of dollars in anti-parasitic, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial products in the past 10 years. My experience during these products was often brutal and I routinely had purple bags under my eyes. I felt them initially effective, but was unsure what exactly they were doing to my body and why I felt so ba. Here’s what I think I know about myself: First, I cannot purport to actually having a parasite, other than candida. I imagine that may be the case with many of you, but long story short, these products have many ingredients that would get rid of candida effectively, which I feel they did. However, candida is a communal resident in our bodies and will never be completely eradicated, so I feel like this activity was somewhat in vain for me. I recently found out through DNA testing using Ancestry.com and Nutrahacker.com health reporting, that I possess several gene polymorphisms that affect my ability to ‘retain’ bifido bacteria in my colon. These mutations are on the FUT2 genes. I also have an IL-23R mutation, which additionally affects intestinal health and has been linked to IBS. The FUT2 gene polymorphism supposedly affects my ‘secretor status’ and makes it difficult for me to keep bifido bacteria, which is essential to CONTROLLING candida in the colon (as well as other bad bacteria). Subsequently, using anti-fungals, anti-bacterials, as well as antibiotics, basically ‘polish me off’ and strip me of the limited good bacteria I have. This sets me up for failure and makes my body a HUGE target for candida overgrowth long term, as well as other pathogens (think food poisoning, eating out, etc). It also makes me more susceptible to getting sick, getting chronic sinus infections, etc, because I don’t have the good bacteria in my colon to A.) process my food, so it just sits fermenting and B.)fight nasties I have ingested without my knowledge and C.) process carbs and sugars which are known to feed candida. This creates the perfect storm, decreasing your immune system and creating the perfect cycle of sick. Additionally, I have figured out that because of the lack of bifido bacteria in my colon, which degrades histamine produced by environment and food, I am much more prone to histamine reactions on things anti-fungals, anti-bacterials, anti-parasitics because again, no bifido to clean up the toxins that are being released with the decimation of bad bacteria. This is why I think I had perpetual purple bags under my eyes. Incidently, I am also a partial polymorphism for 2 DAO genes, which regulates histamine levels in the gut, which means, I have a double whammy on the allergy side of things. For me, personally, because of my gene mutations, age, and gender, I have found the best thing for me to fight candida and other bacterial pathogens is a combination of L. Acidophilus DDS-1 with B. Coagulans probiotic, plus a separate bifido bacteria probiotic (with mostly histamine degrading strains). I am still testing Galactomune (GOS) as a prebiotic for FUT2 mutation with this. I have the ‘gut’ instinct (LOL) that Galactomune will be good with this regimen, but ONLY in the presence of the L. Acidophilus probiotic. This is because though many suggest GOS does not feed candida, only bifido bacteria, I think Candida are pros at eating anything that isn’t digesting prior to the colon. Again, this is specific to me and my gene mutations, but may be helpful to others.
