I was originally looking for something for my dog’s ashes box as she passed suddenly. I used many as errors and for practice but over all was a nice look and quality. The thickness was what I was looking for.It’s easy to scratch! There’s outcome of my engraving tool I used came out lighter than expected but again I used a tool that wasn’t made to push this hard for the machine and tool. These are very good quality plates with strong adhesive and a good, shiny look. However, do not buy these if you are thinking of using them with your Cricut. You *can* engrave these using the engraving tip, but you will get a very light output that may be underwhelming. Additionally, the plates are thick enough and heavy enough that you will need heavy extra support when taping it to your cutting mat. These are very nice nameplates, but again, not good for use with a Cricut machine. ... show more

I run a small hobby laser and needed a variety pack of metal blanks for different custom wood projects. I threw a banana next to these blanks for scale to highlight how the notched corners give them a slightly more traditional, vintage trophy look compared to standard rectangles. Having the option to choose between gold, silver, and black in a single set makes it very easy to match the hardware on whatever box or frame I am building. WHY THEY EXCEL: • The metallic coating is highly uniform without any scratches or splotches, and all three colors provide excellent contrast once engraved. • The notched corners are stamped very cleanly without any sharp metal burrs left behind on the edges. SETUP QUIRK: • Framing your laser software requires a bit more precision with this specific design. Because the corners are physically notched out, you have to leave a slightly wider margin in your design file. If you run your text too close to the edges, the laser will fire right off the cut-out corner and ruin the alignment of your text. THE BOTTOM LINE: A fantastic assortment of high-contrast engraving plates, as long as you account for the notched corners in your design margins. ... show more

    • Good Value Plates for xTool Lasers — Some Warping but Solid Quality

These were okay overall. I purchased them to customize with my xTool 40W laser, and I did have to test a couple before finding the settings that worked best. For me, it required two passes, but whether I used one pass or two, the plate seemed to warp slightly and bowed in the middle. The plates laser to a brass color, which I liked, but the engraving can be a little hard to see unless it is in direct sunlight. The size is accurate to what was advertised. The appearance is well-finished, they feel well-made, and the thickness is very sturdy. For the price, I would say they are a good value since a lot of plates are included. They are compatible with the xTool laser, but you may need to experiment with the settings or do multiple passes to get the result you want. ... show more
