This product was nice as it is teaching my son a more comfortable way to hold his writing utensils. He is 4, so I purchase it to use with his dry erase markers and workbook. However, these are made ONLY to hold pencils or very thin fine tipped markers. He cannot use them on small or normal sized dry erase markers, regular markers, or even gel pens as they are just too big. When it comes to correcting pencil usage this seems to be his is the first choice, at least over the triangular pencils. It is easier to use (so far) and has helped the writing process to become more comfortable. The is a learning period where the user has to get used to placing it in the correct position on the pencil and learning to work with the grip instead of against it.
