The size is great for elementary school lunch. We have two this size, though the bees are a favorite print. I microwave water for 4 minutes, pour into the thermos and allow to heat for a minimum of 10 minutes. While this is warming, I'll heat the food that's going into it. I empty the hot water from the thermos, carefully dry it out, then add the hot food. It stays warm for hours. The built in spoon is also convenient. I haven't been able to find replacement plastic spoons though, so hopefully ours doesn't break or get lost. I wash it in the dishwasher, top rack. It also doesn't leak. If you tighten it too much when adding the food, it can be hard for a younger child to open. ... show more

I purchased this for my picky kindergarten eater. She enjoys eating soup a lot. The first time that we used it when I emptied her lunch box from the end of the day, there was much of her soup left. When I asked her about it, she said that the soup was still too hot. She eats fairly early at school being in kindergarten so I think that from the time it was packed and the time she reopened it just didn't have enough time to cool down at all. Speaks to the quality of this product. Just something to be aware of. I ended up adding ice and leaving the lid off until right before I took my girl to school.
