  • How many ATX 8pin CPU pwr connectors needed for your application ?
The power supply was built with pride, you could tell from the workmanship of the unit. The fan and other openings (vents) were all in the right places. I could not use the unit with my motherboard because it required two 8pin ATX CPU power connections to get the board operating fully. The unit only provided one. I was looking forward to using it, but all things do not always pan out especially when your working with cutting edge ( fairly new technologies) products. DDR5 ram support. Amazon return and support was very easy and convent as always... ... show more

  • Not comparable out of the box with 7900xtx or any future gpu that requires 3 pins
Doesn't have enough single cables for the gpu unless you buy another one I just decided to buy an EVGA 1300 watt instead Probably a good psu, it just doesn't work with my system

  • Coil whine is BAD
The coil whine is REALLY bad on this thing, and is constant from the second it's turned on (not just under load). It's going back to Amazon and I'll try a different brand's ATX3 PSU

  • Possible QC issues, bad PSU cable quality
I bought one of these to replace an older, lower wattage thermaltake PSU in my gaming/work PC. Installing the PSU itself was easy enough, but the cables felt kinda cheap and the connectors didn't seem to want to connect properly (both to the PSU itself and my MOBO). Got everything hooked up, booted the pc up and everything seemed fine...until about five minutes later, when the PSU emitted an obnoxious grinding noise. Then it did it again a few seconds later, and again, and again... Turns out, the fan was bad or something; it mades the noise every time the fan had to ramp up. So, I contacted support and had them send me another one. Went through the time to unhook the old one, hooked up the new one, and it seemed DOA. Wouldn't turn on no matter what I tried, and I tried a lot: unplugging and rerunning all the cables, checking all the pins were okay, making extra sure they were aligned and seated properly when plugging them in, etc. But no, after a bit (a lot) of troubleshooting I found out that it was just one of the cables for the new PSU that was defective. Or so I thought. Replaced the cable with another one (it was one of the many sata cables the PSU came with), hooked everything up, hit the power button... PC turned on for a fraction of a second and then shut off again immediately. Unhooked the new PSU and hooked the old one back up, PC boots just fine (still with the grinding PSU fan). Hooked the new one up, same thing again; PC starts to power on but quickly shuts off. It did that every time I hit the power button, with the only exception being if I held it for like five seconds, at which point the PC booted up normally and seemed to have no issues running. But unfortunately, I'm going to have to keep using it as it is and just hope that it doesn't fry my computer because I cannot afford a replacement at the moment, and due to work reasons, nor am I able to go without my PC for however long it would take me to send this one back and have it replaced that way...again. In conclusion: I've had two of these, and both of them have been faulty. The first one I believe is an issue with a fan bearing, and the second, I think has a bad capacitor or something. Plus, the cables seem shoddily made and look ugly. But hey, at least everything was packaged well in both the PSU boxes, so I guess that's a plus. ... show more

  • As good or better than the Corsair 1000w model
I'd purchased another Thermaltake PSU a few months prior that was catastrophically dead on arrival, but decided since my usual experience with them is positive that I'd give another product a go instead. For my partner's computer I purchased a Corsair RM1000x, and building with it was a dream. It was overkill, but it was easy overkill. I decided to get something of a similar nature from Thermaltake, and while I had some slight gripes about cabling in comparison to the RM1000x (which has very flexible and easy to work with cables) I had absolutely no issues in getting a functioning build. It's currently supporting a 3070 and a 7700x with no sign of slowing down and no coil whine, regardless of stress testing. I'd recommend this over most other PSUs I've bought, and while EVGA is still my go to brand I think this has bumped Thermaltake's reputation in my mind a good degree. The only real complaint I would say they can take an actionable measure to resolve is to PLEASE STOP USING TRUE POWER RATINGS. They are misleading, convoluted and inaccurate methods of gauging the performance of a PSU. The 80 Plus system is a more intuitive, reliable and most importantly STANDARDIZED form of communicating a product's quality to consumers. ... show more

  • 12VHPWR Cable Does Not Work with Asus RTX 4090!
The media could not be loaded. I bought this PSU to power my RTX 4090 but the included 12VHPWR cable does not allow the card to post. Although the GPU turns on and the cable is labeled 600W, it still does not give any picture. I made sure not to bend/maneuver the cable in any way that could harm it because I've heard quite a few horror stories about these connectors. The red light on the 4090 signifies that there is not enough power to the GPU. Other than this major downside the PSU works fine. Just be ready to purchase an aftermarket 12VHPWR connector. ... show more
