Part of Therm-a-Rest’s Trek & Travel Series, the Stellar Blanket is equally at home on the trail in fair weather, around camp, on the beach, or anywhere a bit of technical performance is needed along with classic warmth and function. All blankets include perimeter snap loops for mating with other Therm-a-Rest blankets, quilts, sheets and Mattress Snap Kits. Given all the five star reviews, I thought I'd better chime in. First, this blanket is throw sized! it doesn't really cover you very well, even with the loops to use straps around your sleeping pad, it is narrow and short. Second, it is not warm. I got the REI camp poncho blanket at the same time to compare, and that one is subject to complaints that it is not warm, and it warmed right up (in my living room test), while this one cranked out no heat whatsoever. It does not really wrap around you conveniently, and also does not cover well as a blanket because it is narrow and short. It does have a less slippery feeling interior side, but it is not cozy by any means. I do like the bison sketched on it. It is really cool, and the loops to strap it to your sleeping pad. It really is for a kid, in the summer, over some long underwear, at camp maybe, or in the back yard. I wouldn't go actual backcountry hiking with this as my source of warmth. I did keep the REI poncho, it has batwings and was actually warm, wide and of reasonable length and recommend that one, or even thermarest's poncho/blanket over this blanket. Forget picnicking too, you'll tear this pretty quickly. Kelty and especially NEMO makes a great ground blanket. ... show more

Wife loves it and I have a similar one that's within hands reach for the last several years. I travel a lot by car and it makes a great neck pillow in the stuff sack or of course a really convenient blanket when.

    • Careful with your box-cutter :(
On a backpacking trip, I'll be taking this in place of a sleeping bag. The bag would be too heavy and too warm. The reason I'm giving four stars is the packaging. The blanket is stuffed into a box and mailed. The reason this is a problem is that it is lacking any protection or barrier between the product and the packing tape. Using a box cutter to open, I sliced right into the blanket damaging it before it came out of the box. I buy a ton of stuff on Amazon and don't always remember what to expect in each box. One thin piece of cardboard no thicker than a manila folder would have protected the blanket. No, I am not a violent box opener, but yes I have a sharp box-cutter. If Therm-a-Rest or Cascade Designs leans toward making the customer happy (even though I admit what happened), I'd gladly exchange my blanket (which now sports a strip of tape) with a new one. For the price, this really is a pretty stellar blanket! Lol it is very light and really slick how it packs into its own pocket. The cinch-ability around the foot box is very helpful and I have used the loops to attach it to my sleep pad. It washes well. My only gripe, if you can call it that, is that the tech fabric is very slippery so when I’ve paired it with my silk Cocoon travel sheets, it just doesn’t stay put. I’ve used it as a rain cover on a boat and stayed dry under it tho, which more than makes up for the slippage! And it is NOT loud or crinkly sounding, rather it’s actually a very pleasing tactile experience. Buy with confidence, it’s a winner! ... show more

Pretty cool little blanket, only complaint was the material doesn’t seem to be especially durable, however i have not had it long enough to really find out. We shall see. Otherwise, it’s exactly what i wanted.

Worth owning for outdoor events like concerts etc. I went to very long windy outdoor graduation ceremony recently and nearly froze when the sun went down, prompting me to buy this after. Nice looking, great colors but it is much more wrinkled when unpacked than shown in photo. It may smooth out on it's own. Very light weight but a little bulky for backpacking. Good car blanket, bottom cinches up cozy, built in packing sac. Other reviewers have written great reviews about the merits of this blanket and I agree with them. ... show more
