Description

Sketch artist Tino Ciccotelli is passionately dedicated to helping victims of violent crime. For years he's translated their descriptions of attackers into "WANTED" posters. While listening to the victims' pain is emotionally draining, Tino accepts this as part of the job--until he discovers that he and his newest client have a personal connection. He is devastated to see Dorothy's injuries and determined to help the police catch her attacker, but he must also deal with the return of her niece, his first love who left him when their lives were just beginning. Charlotte Walsh has always regretted leaving Tino. Her fear of being stuck in marriage like her parents' drove her away from Tino and his dreams of a house with a white picket fence. Her life did not play out as she'd expected and, after an assault by a stalker, she has returned to Philadelphia, only to have her aunt targeted for violence. Now she and Tino must work together to find the man who left her aunt for dead, but they soon realize the killer's true target is much closer than they think. Read more

  • Excellent Novella
Format: Kindle
Karen Rose is one of my favorite authors, so I jumped at the opportunity to read this novella. Tino is an awesome character. I love it. My only complaint is that it's too short - a full length novel would be better than a novella. But Karen Rose is such a favorite that I will be grateful for anything from her. ... show more

  • Great quick read
Format: Kindle
This was a wonderful, quick read. It was straight to the point without any useless talking points or details. The characters were engaging, entertaining, and likeable with a villain that was just the right amount dislikable and pitiful. The only thing I didn't understand was why did the relationship change between the ciccotelli mom and her kids and husband? I may be wrong on that, but as I remember it she was always a great mom and living devoted wife. Either way, highly recommended read if you like Karen Rose books. ... show more

  • Great book.
Format: Kindle
I loved this book and was hooked from page one. It’s a great second chance at love. Charlotte (Charlie) has broken Tino’s heart when they were 18. She’s returned home, but has a stalker. She still trusts him and he’s trying to not open his heart. But they’ve always loved each other. Thankfully they finally get their happy ever after. ... show more

  • ok but not great
Format: Kindle
Pros: liked the family dynamics and the main characters were actually over 40. Cons: story felt rushed, probably due to the book being less than 200 pages. There was a lot of action and intrigue that needed more development. Too many violent murders in such a short book made for a rather overwhelming read. I felt relieved when I finished the book. That being said, I’m a big fan of the author and have read most of her books. This one missed the mark. ... show more

  • Celebrating Characters Past with a New Novella
Format: Kindle
Author Karen Rose has a treasure trove of characters who all deserve a story. Tino Ciccotelli is a character who appeared in 3 past novels: Die for Me (2007), Did You Miss Me (2013), and Say You're Sorry (2019). It always felt like he needed his own story. Now he has one! If you've never read a Karen Rose Book before, you can read this one as a stand-alone. Of course, though, you'll want to go back and read all the books he appeared in though! Tino Ciccotelli is a talented sketch artist whose sketches help bring down the most violent criminals. But that kind of work takes its toll on a person. When he makes his way back to his Philadelphia-area home, he’s faced with having to work with a victim he knows—Dorothy, the art teacher who believed in him. He wants to help, but he’s also faced her niece Charlotte (Charlie) Walsh, the one who was his first heartbreak. Charlie is beginning to wonder if she’s the reason Dorothy was brutally beaten. She returned to Philadelphia to escape the memory of an attack by a stalker. Was her stalker behind her aunt’s attack and the recent string of attacks and murders at businesses she frequented? Tino never got over Charlie, and Charlie always regretted leaving Tino without explanation. They’re now wrapped up in working to find her aunt’s attacker before he sets his sights on his true target. Will they find love as they find the killer? Once again, Karen Rose will have you enjoying perfectly imperfect characters who work to find their way back together as they work together to find a vicious killer. You’ll find yourself glued to the pages as you speed read through to the end! ... show more

  • Excellent
Format: Kindle
This was an incredibly good story. It was fast paced and interesting. I am a fairly slow reader but I read it all in one afternoon. I loved the characters, especially the connection between the brothers. This is the first book I've read by Karen Rose and I look forward to reading more by this talented author. ... show more

  • Loved it
Format: Kindle
I’d been hoping that Tino would get his own story since the first time he appeared. It was worth the wait. Charlie and Tino obviously belong together. It was also great to catch up with Vito and Sophie.
