I mean, it's journals. The only reason why I'm writing this review is that my journals came damaged, and I don't have the time to ship them back. The edges are crushed and a bit torn. Also, for some reason, there are weird dark splotches at the back of one of my journals. I'll still use it because I have no choice lol. The Shagreen journal compares well to journals I've spent much more money to buy. The paper is good quality and does not bleed through even when using fountain pen. The binding is solid and the cover attractive and strong enough. The small pocket inside the back cover is very useful for tickets, receipts, or reminders. I needed a journal large enough to write in easily and small enough to fit in the small sling bag I carry daily when traveling. ... show more

When I came across the AmazonBasics Shagreen Journal, 2-Pack, I was not looking for it. I was looking for a larger journal to replace the one that I have. I saw that this was a 2-Pack and decided to give it a try. The journal is solidly built. It should take the abuse of being opened thousands of times. The pages are thick enough to use both sides. The rule is slightly larger than college rule. I will be able to use each line. College rule is too tight for my handwriting to use each line. The elastic closure is a class feature. No journal should be without it. This one seems sturdy enough not to stretch out and become useless. The finish of the covers looks like it will be impervious to the inevitable coffee spills from table bumps. It looks great. The only thing that I would want to change is how slick the cover feels. It doesn't stick to my fingers. I would prefer a slightly more sticky cover. This is a great journal. It is much easier to work with than the larger one that I used to prefer. ... show more
