UPDATE: The laptop pocket is now a separate compartment in the back! Lol, I didn't even see it at first. This is actually a better design than my old pack, so I am updating my rating and original review (see below). I will probably keep this. Time will tell if it holds up as well and as long as my old pack. Previous Review: I loved my old North Face backpack, which I have had for over 10 years. It finally got too dirty looking and the waterproofing is worn, so I decided to get a new one. I thought this model would be comparable, but it is smaller. There is no inside pocket for your laptop, which I liked, and the inner pocket it does have doesn't go down all the way like it used to. I do like the hidden outside pocket, and my main requirements were the front and side pouches for easy access storage. The boysenberry color is pretty - almost purple - and is a nice contrast with the orange trim. I use my pack for fieldwork, though, and may need the extra storage and laptop protection. Sigh. My old pack may have to last one more season...

I needed a new backpack for college and ultimately landed on this one. The main pouch is a great size and can fit up to 3 binders or if your like me a folder, a notebook, planner, 2 textbooks, and my pencil pouch. Computer pocket fits my 13 in mac and my ipad (both have thick cases) easily and i have more room for chargers or honestly another laptop. inside pockets are large and fit many miscellaneous items that vary in size. straps are super sturdy and material of backpack is rain proof. absolutely love it. side pocket fits pretty large bottles. I normally put my 24 oz owala and an energy drink in it. I did get kind of a strange color but it stands out so i always know which ones mine.
