  • COMFORTABLE CARRY. A huge main compartment holds all your books for a day at work and contains a padded 15" laptop sleeve to protect your computer from bumps and falls. Top handles allow for easy grabbing, and a sternum strap provides extra support.

Description

The Vault is a school backpack that is actually much more. And this season, with the help of a few students, we updated it: it now features double handles, is freestanding and has a slimmer profile to make commuting by public transport much less boring. However, the ultra-comfortable FlexVent™ suspension system is still the same, with contoured flexible shoulder straps, a padded mesh back panel, and a breathable lumbar panel. The main compartment can hold a few books and your laptop, in a separate protective pocket, or spare clothes if you plan a night out. The front compartment includes a padded tablet pocket, zippered storage and space for pens and pencils. In addition, there are two external mesh water bottle pockets. And you can cycle safely there, thanks to strategically placed reflectors to provide 360° visibility and adding lighting to the bike light loop.

Great quality at a reasonable price. My first vault backpack was purchased on 2007. This is the second one. So far the only complaint i have is the small pocket on top and for some reason it has 2 upper handlers. That seems a waste of material. Pros: the backpack its very comfortable to wear. Carries the weight evenly distributed and the size it’s perfect for school or carry your lunch and some notepads to work. Great quality, stitching seems well done, and overall a robust built.     • Definitely a quality product and good investment
Bought this for my son in fourth grade after buying cheaper backpacks that would break easily or have issues. He’s not actually hard on his backpacks but this one has held up great. I got it in December so he has only had it a few months but still looks brand new. Zippers are flawless and pretty good space inside compartments. Myself and his father have similar north face bags we used in college and still have them. Definitely the best brand for backpacks out there. Price was very justifiable for buying for my 9 year old. Quality is great and I know we will get a few years worth of good use during school year out of this bag before he would want or need another. The investment in a more expensive bag is definitely worth it when you know the quality is superb and will get years of use out of it. Definitely recommend. ... show more

My Daughter has had this backpack for high school and college. It has done well through the rain, held books, notebooks, iPad, and 17” laptop well. It is not big and bulky holds just what she needs. Laptop sleeve area is well cushioned but is for a laptop that is smaller than 17”, so she just put hers outside the sleeve. No issues with zippers or stitches. ... show more

    • Nice bag, too much padding in laptop slot
This is built well and looks nice, and if you want to flash the The North Face brand, this is a functional way to do it. The zippers are loose which makes them slide easily, but they can unzip on their own, which in past experience can be annoying. And since the zipper pulls don't have holes on the ends, they can't be easily clipped together. The padding in the back section is overkill for a pack this size, especially one intended for urban use. The laptop slot was obviously a design priority since it is also heavily padded. I weighed the pack and it comes in at 26 ounces, which is a bit high for a 27L pack. So they were generous with the materials, but not in areas I would need since I'm not a student. With better zippers and a little more focus on outdoor use and traveling, it could be perfect. Certainly worth $65 since I'm sure it will last. (BTW, no whistle on sternum strap buckle, which is a nice thing to have) ... show more

I can't speak for the durability of this backpack for longer than 4 months because I bought this backpack going into my junior year of college, but so far this bag has been great. It has a cushioned pocket for my MacBook, and I am able to fit so much into this bag. It is great quality and I can tell I will have this bag for a long time.
