Great backpack for an active kid - fits all the daily necessities and is even big enough for an overnight trip. Color is great and the material has held up well to being thrown around on the way to/from school. The bungees on the outside are great for shoes or a sweatshirt. The Jester nails the basics really well - it’s super comfortable thanks to its padded back system, protects laptops up to 16” perfectly, and actually stands up on its own which is surprisingly handy. It’s got a clean look that works for school or work, handles light rain okay, and the build quality is solid. The downside is it’s pretty basic with organization - just one main compartment and a front pocket, so don’t expect tons of little pockets for your stuff. Great backpack for my teenager who keeps way too much in his backpack at any given moment. The laptop compartment keeps his computer protected from everything else, while the other ones keep pens and what have you organized. The backpack also has two external bottle pockets which accommodate even bigger tumbler & bottles, and are always in use now that since my son has been into “proper hydration”. The color and size are accurate, and thick straps make it comfortable to wear. His previous backpack was a TNF Borealis which is still in great condition despite being used for a few years, so I hope this one will last a while too! I’ve been using the The North Face Jester Everyday Laptop Backpack for several weeks now, and overall I’m quite impressed. It hits many of the right notes for a daily commuter bag, though there are a couple of small trade-offs. What I like: • The build quality is solid. The fabric feels durable and well-stitched, and the water-repellent finish gives me confidence in light rain. • The internal layout is smart. The padded 16″ laptop sleeve (and extra padded section for a tablet) keeps my gear protected, and the main compartment has room for books, a sweater, and other essentials. • Ergonomics are good — the FlexVent suspension system with padded shoulder straps and a breathable back panel makes the pack comfortable even when loaded. • The two side bottle pockets are convenient (and versatile) — I often use one for a water bottle and the other for quick‐access items. What could be better: • When fully packed, the bag starts to feel a bit heavy — I wish there were more structure or better weight distribution when carrying heavier loads. • The front compartments are useful, but I sometimes find myself wishing for a few more interior pockets or dividers to keep smaller items (pens, cables, etc.) better organized. • While the water repellent coating handles light moisture well, I wouldn’t trust it in a heavy downpour without additional protection. Bottom line: This is a very capable everyday/laptop backpack. It balances comfort, durability, and functionality nicely. If you don’t regularly haul extremely heavy loads, it should serve you well. ... show more
