The backpack is great, looks great, feels sturdy. Love that. Do not love the fact that it is advertised as a 12.75" height x 11" wide laptop sleeve. It is NOT that wide. It is only 10" wide and you cannot fit a 10" wide laptop in here. They need to correct the listing.

I love the backpack! It’s made from good materials and is comfortable to wear. It is just a little small if you need to carry a lot of books for school like I do. Other than that its great!

The rip cord on the front of the backpack came apart within 30 days of using it. It is internally attached, so you can't re-attach it without putting a hole in the backpack. A quick internet search shows this is a common problem with this backpack. I called The North Face and for a warranty claim it will be up to 8 weeks and I have to pay to ship it there. For the mark-up The North Face charges, these backpacks should be much better constructed or they should offer better alternatives for replacing it. I've had much better backpacks at much less cost.

It’s only the second week of school and the bungees have already snapped at the top and they aren’t even used for anything. The only way to fix it myself is to cut a hole in the liner on each side. I can’t attempt the warranty because he can’t go without a backpack and I sure don’t want to buy another just to use not even knowing if they would approve a warranty repair.. These products are too expensive to not last even the first couple of weeks of school!

I got this backpack for work, because I would end up lugging a lot of things around in several bags, and it was just inconvenient. I find the backpack to be really functional. I especially like that there are two side pockets - one for my water, and the other for my coffee tumbler. The laptop compartment is secure, and the front pocket also provides an easy to access compartment for all my small items. Also the cords at the front are unexpectedly useful for anything that won't fit in the main compartment - I use them for my jacket, but they will secure any bulky lightish object (think bike helmet, maybe even a skateboard). The capacity is great. I can carry a laptop, ipad, book, lunch, hoodie, headphones and electronics case, jacket, water bottle and tumbler and still have room to spare and my hands free. AND it looks nice (mine is olive green), but you already knew that :)
