Over the years, certain brands reduce their quality. I am no stranger to north face having some backpacks that I felt declined in quality. But this bag is excellent and sturdy and I know will last me +10 years like my borealis backpack! The laptop holder sucks, so don't expect that you will get great use of that without a laptop sleeve. This bag does well as a weighted ruck sack for working out. While there are not a bunch of amazing features like other bags on the market, this is a simple one you can keep and abuse for a long time.

I like using this bag for my trips to the Jiu Jitsu gym. It allows me to quickly change in/out clothes to get started for classes and compartmentalise things. I keep my gi (or no gi) on one half, and place my street clothes on the other + bike stuff if I’m riding to the gym. I can also stash my puffer jacket for the colder months. I keep a small first aid kit in the roof of the lid, a small tripod, mouth guard, and gi belt. My 40 oz bottle fits and is secure with the cord loop. The top pocket I keep for the small stuff like phone, wallet, keys, Tourniquet, etc. I did not like the flex of the bag so much, so I went to home depot and bought a sheet of polycarbonate, cut it to size and placed it in the laptop pouch. Adds little weight and now the bag doesn’t bend so weird on my back.
