  • Great for grating vegetables
Style: Boxed Grater
Very good sturdy cheese grater I purchased this to make on zucchini so I needed something that was just easy to hold onto. I found it very easy to use and it did the job very easily.

  • Top quality, built to last and stay sharp for years!
Style: Boxed Grater
Update: I love this grater so much, I keep buying them and giving them away every time I visit someone struggling with a piece of junk grater. To date, I have purchased 5 of these graters and boy am I grateful for them! This is an excellent grater! I read many reviews for graters before I settled on this one. I received an EKCO grater as a wedding gift, and it lasted and was going strong for 15 years, that's saying a lot considering I have a huge family (12 children) and we cook massive amounts of food. When that grater began to get dull, I gave it away to someone who didn't own one, to make sure that I would buy myself a new one. Of course I purchased another EKCO brand grater, that was a slightly different model than the one I had received as a wedding gift 20 years earlier, because I had been so pleased with the former grater I figured the brand must be good quality. Imagine my surprise to discover that the first time I used the grater it wasn't even as sharp as the 20 year old grater that I had just given away! Then, within a month the handle had popped off the top, and I needed another grater. So, I thought it must have been the new model, I'll get the original model again. So I searched far and wide, and bought another EKCO grater that I was sure was the sturdy, original model, and it functioned only slightly better than the other one. It was never very sharp and the plastic handle was much thinner and brittle, and cracked in half within a few months. I just continued to struggle with this one for 2 years because I couldn't find anything better and then got another. (Third time's a charm right?) This was no better than the other one, but since it was the best available in the stores in my area, i got it anyway. All the while I was bemoaning the fact that the Economy Kitchen Co (EKCO) quality had obviously gone down so much. So two years later I moved and purchased this lovely grater from Cuisinart via Amazon, and boy am I ecstatic with it! I can honestly say that it appears to be more durable and better quality than the one I received for a wedding gift! The handle is very securely riveted on, not spot welded, it is a comfortable thick size, easy to grasp, non slip, and every side of the grater is super sharp!) I've grated raw potatoes and cheese, sliced carrots and zested limes and it's worked like a charm! I saw previous complaint about the no slip ring that fits around the bottom being unsanitary. It's poppycock! You simply remove the silicone ring after each use, and rinse it off like any other kitchen utensil and dry it before putting it back on. Easy peasy! I have already recommended this grater to a few people, and I highly recommend it to you! I'm editing my original review. I ordered this grater in April of 2016, it's now 11/13/18 it's been over 2.5 years of almost daily use and I couldn't be happier with this grater! It's still very sharp and sturdy. I accidentally melted the non slip ring around the bottom by setting it in a hot frying pan while I quickly grated something đŸ˜‚ I obviously wasn't thinking clearly. So I just tossed the ring in the trash because there was no fixing it. ... show more

  • Sturdy, sharp, great grater
Style: Boxed Grater
We needed to replace our old grater we'd had for years as it was dull and had dents that made it difficult to use. We initially opted for a cheap one from the supermarket - big mistake. It was flimsy and difficult to use, and the blades weren't even as sharp as our old, dented one had been! So I did some research, found this on Amazon - and it is exactly as the other reviews said. Truly a "great'-er - it's solid, sharp, well-made, and easy to use. The rubber on the bottom hasn't come off of ours as some others have mentioned, and it makes it grip the counter very well making it even easier to use. But even without it this grater is a good choice, it's very sharp, heavy, and the placement of the blades make it slice through whatever is needed (mainly we use it for cheese) really well. I never thought a simple grater like this could make such a difference in the kitchen, but it really does. ... show more

  • At any price, this is the grater you want
Style: Boxed Grater
Dollar for dollar, this is the grater you want: quality stainless steel, a comfortable handle, and a rubber base so that is doesn't slip. It's just your old-fashioned, straightforward box cheese grater, with different sized slots for different cheeses/vegetables. It is sharp and works as well as my old one did (years ago). It's stainless steel, so it's not going to rust. Two minor negatives: 1. IF the rubber base comes off (and I can't seem to get mine off), it is difficult to remove at best, so cleaning might prove to be a pain in the long run. 2. This is bigger in two dimensions than advertised, so if you're planning to put it in a certain drawer, you might consider the actual dimensions: 9 13/16 inches high (less than advertised) x 3 13/16 inches (wider than advertised) x 4 5/8 (slightly wider than advertised). So, it doesn't fit in the drawer I had planned for it based on the given stats, but I have just put it in a cupboard instead—not a star-taker. I don't need (or even want) a built-in container for what I've grated—just put this puppy in a bowl or over your cutting board and go to it! I tried the Vremi 5 Piece Cheese Grater Set with Container - Microplane Zester Parmesan Cheese Shredder Vegetable Slicer Cheese Graters - Fine and Coarse Metal Hand Cheese Grater Adjustable Hard Cheese Slicer: , a cute little contraption with four different inserts and a storage box. When it was selling for about $6 it was an okay purchase, but now it's jumped to nearly $10—not worth it. You can find the same quality in a dollar store. ... show more

  • This one will last! Protective base is good addition.
Style: Boxed Grater
Like so many things, this one is worth the investment. I live in a small town, 1 cheese grater available to buy. Sure, it was 3 bucks, but started bending the 2nd or 3rd time used and the grate wasn't very sharp. I'd rather spend the money for an item that will hold up for years. Cuisinart has always been a great brand for me, and I was surprised to find a manual kitchen tool by them. It's grate (haha)! And I appreciate the...silicone? base on it: It grips what it is resting on, and protects it as well. ... show more

  • Shredding should be easy...this is one of the best ways to make it so.
Style: Boxed Grater
I had one of those stupid flat graters that never seems to work well, or at least it doesn't make it easy. This one makes it easy. Here is info about important uses of graters. Many professionals in restaurants and eateries are using the entire lemon and nothing is wasted. How can you use the whole lemon without waste? Simple...Soak the citrus in White vinegar to remove pesticides. Let it soak for at least 15 minutes. place the washed lemon in the freezer section of your refrigerator. Once the lemon is frozen, get your grater, and shred the whole lemon (no need to peel it) and sprinkle it on top of your food. Why would you want to use the whole citrus fruit including the peel or rind? Most of us only think of lemon juice and vitamin C. But there is so much more nutritional value than that. Just a few ideas about what to use it on. Sprinkle it to your vegetable salad, ice cream, soup, cereals, noodles, spaghetti sauce, rice, sushi, fish dishes, whisky.... the list is endless. You can even use grated lemon in a cup of instant noodles and then they will have some nutritional value. You can eat the fruit in different ways: you can eat the pulp, juice press, prepare drinks, sorbets, pastries, etc... All of the foods will have an unexpectedly wonderful taste, something that you may have never tasted before. What's the major advantage of using the whole lemon other than preventing waste and adding new taste to your food? Lemon and other citrus peels contain as much as 5 to 10 times more vitamins than citrus juice itself. And yes, that's what you've been wasting. If you like me have only been using the juice. But from now on, by following this simple procedure of washing and then freezing the whole lemon, then grating it on top of your dishes, you can consume all of those nutrients and get even healthier. It is a fact that lemon and other citrus peels are beneficial in improving ones health because they help purge toxic naterials and even parasitic pathogens from your body. It is also known to be an effective anti-bacterial agent as well as being effective with fungi, as well as internal parasites and worms. It helps lower high blood pressure and helps combat stress and nervous disorders. It also resolves and eliminates phlegm, and mucus from the body. Lemon (and other citrus peel) has been shown to kill cancer cells. Some say it is more effective than chemotherapy. And even better not only does kill cancer cells, but it benefits the health of healthy cells. Why do we not know about that? Because there are laboratories interested in making a synthetic version that will bring them huge profits. So, give those lemons a good wash, freeze them and grate them. Your whole body will love you for it!!!!! ... show more

  • Its a Grater
Style: Boxed Grater
Works well, and is a whole lot better than the 40 year old rusty one I have been using for forever. The little plastic bit on the bottom is annoying, and I have had to remove it to get the grater clean. 4.5 stars ...
