  • Classic Legend Of Heroes Game
Platform For Display: PS4 version
The Good ---------------- + Wraps up a lot of story lines from basically all the Legend of Heroes games up to this point + Large cast of playable characters + Game is long The Bad ---------------- - If you've played one Legend of Heroes games, you've kind of played them all. They all follow the same basic formula and even a lot of the quests are the exact same thing from a different game, just in a new location with new characters. - This game is basically just the second game in this series all over again, just like the third one was basically just the first game. The Nitpicky ---------------- = I may be in the minority, but I prefer a much smaller cast of characters Thoughts ---------------- At the end of the day, this is basically just a rehash of Cold Steel 2 with some new characters. You've got a big conflict brewing and only Class VII can save the day, but first the scattered members have to reunite after being put on the most wanted list at the end of the last game. Sound familiar? That's because it's the same basic script as the second game. Now, don't get me wrong, it's still a good game, and it does have cameos from just about every significant character in all of the past games, just don't be surprised if you have this constant sense of deja vu and can see plot twists coming a mile away. They kept the same refined combat system from Cold Steel 3, which makes excellent use of all the buttons on a controller. The old wheel selector wasn't bad exactly, but this is far superior. Personally, I felt like the roster got to be seriously crowded after only a short time in the game. It gets a bit onerous when the game forces you to split up the entire roster into smaller groups because unless this is like a second playthrough, you're not going to have enough quartz or other useful equipment to go around, not to mention until pretty late in the game you'll probably be broke a lot of the time just trying to keep a roster of 4-6 of your favorite characters equipped. Things like u-material drops like candy and you can have more than 99 of it, but you're going to probably be always running out of this resource too when some of the best items like the Rage quarts, cost around 65 u-material, and that's before you take into account making any of the lower level quartz needed. All in all, the gameplay's still solid even if they just kind of took the Cold Steel 2 script and made a few minor alterations, same as they did with Cold Steel 1 & 3, and those borrow heavily from Trails in the Sky. I know it's the final installment, but if you are currently playing one of the earlier games and thinking about picking this up, be sure to give yourself some time between to cleanse your gaming pallet a little. Otherwise this may just feel like too much of the same and you'll burn out before you finish. ... show more

Great game, great series. When you invest 400+ hours to get to know a wide variety of charactes, every special moment is worth it. Play the game. Play the series. Support the incredibly talented localization team and voice actors. Thank you so much!

The games case was cut and damaged but it was the last item in stock. Game is great but a 100 hour investment.
