  • This is a very good and entertaining VR game
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4
This is a very good and entertaining VR game. Not sure why people are complaining . This game it supposed to be played again and again to get the different out comes. You can use your own voice to interact with the in game NCP. its fun tense and scary at some points. Its a mystery story. I loved it. VR are is evolving into a great new game mechanic. I find it hard to go back to 2D. I would recommend this game to anyone. ... show more

  • A 2 hour walking in the dark with a flashlight game for PSVR.
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4
Wandering around in the dark with a flashlight is a good summary of The Inpatient, as most of the time you're following a character through the empty halls of the asylum, mysteriously taken over by something from outside. The game looks decent with nice graphics, but the plot is slow to unfold, even though the game only lasts about 2 to 3 hours if you take your time. The PSVR visuals are neat, but there's just not enough excitement in this story driven game where you are just walking ahead to start the next cutscene dialog. There are moments where you make decisions, but most of your decisions feel without consequences. It's an okay horror experience but not great as I wasn't scared a single time, not because I didn't want to be, but because the game didn't intrigue me as I was hoping. I wouldn't pay more than $10 for this walking in the dark demo. Decent, but could've been so much better if this was only the first chapter of an 8 chapter game. Too short. ... show more

  • The haters are completely missing the point. VR's new standard.
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4
Not for everyone, but certainly amazing and incredibly engulfing, particularly for a VR game. It's one of the first of its kinda that allows you to use your voice to answer questions with your voice. Yes, it's been done eons ago, but doing this in VR takes on an entirely different delivery. I assume that the naysayers complaining that this game is "too short" didn't realize that this game was meant to be played multiple times and experienced via different possibilities via the butterfly effect that its predecessor games employ. When taking the various stories into account the game becomes more than a 10+ hour game, if not more. ... show more

Really enthralling experience. Yes, it's short, but I don't think it's fair to judge VR games based on quantity over quality. What's here is quality in every sense. Definitely the best looking VR game to date and the 3D audio is immersive. I wouldn't recommend playing with the Move controllers, though. I never was quite comfortable with the controls. Play with the Dualshock instead. ... show more

  • Disappointment hopefully will get a huge controller Patch
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4
Well... this was a surprise disappointment. I'd say If you loved Until Dawn like me, and was expecting that level of horror brilliance in a VR game... don't play this game. You'll be 100% disappointed. The game is so worried about making the player motion sick that it uses every handicap in the book and the result is a boring slow walking simulator that never really steps out of being voyeuristic. Most of the game people talk around you, or speak at you, but your responses never feel like they have any weight to them until butterflies pop out of a what felt like a random response. Most actions are simply triggers for looking at the right thing, or step towards the right thing, which then progresses the story. So plan on walking around the environment very slowly until something triggers. To make the movement more annoying is how it handles. The games scared to make the gamer sick, which I get my friend does fine until she side steps and then wants to vomit, I on the other hand play Farpoint with all the the comfort setting turned off running around like an idiot. This game is made for people like her, but still asks for full locomotion so you get this horrible slow anti vomit precautions. You can side step and back step but only once before the game will stop your movement. Going forward is slow, and going up and down stairs is even slower so when I saw stairs I dreading how long they were. To make it worse the controls for the flash light which became my only entertainment through long stretches of the game gets stuck on the environment all the time. So if I wanted a closer look at whats around me, I'd run into the wall with my flash light and simply stare at a black space. And weirdly can't be raised higher then my wast so I want to poke it into windows or around corners i can't. (This is with the DS4, haven't tried the Moves yet.) And there are a few legitimate scares, but for the most part the game feels too scared to scare the player into running in fear of the getting motion sickness so after a while I stopped being worried I'd die since nothing even came close enough to hurt me. I'd walk out into area willy nilly to see if anything would happen and nothing did... The Good: The graphics look great they have a nice combo of color based environments which helps the surreal come alive and beautiful character design. Probably one of the best features of this game. Sound Design is also top notch. Would I recommend this game to anyone... No stay far far away from it. It will be cheap soon, and hopefully patched to allow more movement options until then it's not worth more then 15$. Play 'Here They Lie VR (PSVR)' if this interest you that game is a walking simulator that genuinely uncomfortable with branching choices and story. This is the first VR game that I truly wish was made for the PS4 first and ported to the VR since I think a lot of it's problems would have been resolved since normal PS4 players wouldn't have ever asked for such bad safety nets. I hope it gets a controller patch that let's the player have more control over the comfort settings (Faster walking and the ability to strafe like a normal gamer), also the game does have replay value... but I really don't know if I care at all to replay it in its current form. EDIT: I did play it again... and acting out the scenes did help make the game feel more immersive along with using the move controller. Being able to interact with almost everything was a least entertaining when they talked about nothing... But the differences where minimal at best. i even started shacking my body when the bad guys showed and with a huge sticker in the middle of the screen saying "don't move" to see what would happen... I didn't die!!! SPOILER - There is only 1 game section you can die in and it's literally at the end of the game... so no fear of death. Just shack for the fun of watching someone else get malled... and it's all your fault. they tell you over and over. Sucks for them, shouldn't have saved to loony patient in the first place. I don't plan on playing it again for round 3. ... show more
