  • A page turner that I couldn't put down
Format: Paperback
This book has a million reviews so what more can I say? I loved it from beginning to end and I couldn't seem to put it down. With every chapter ending I couldn't wait to start the next one. The writing was superb and the character development was excellent. I enjoyed how different each of the Hawthorne brothers were in their personalities. The little bit of romance didn't hurt the story either. Also, I liked the first-person perspective of Avery Grambs. I liked seeing how the story unfolded from her point of view. It makes you think, 'What would I do in the same situation?' All in all it was a great book and I look forward to reading the next in the series. ... show more

  • 4 stars
Format: Kindle
The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes was an engaging and fast-paced mystery full of twists and turns. I really enjoyed the puzzle aspect of the story — it was fun to follow along as the characters solved each clue and uncovered new secrets. The game-like structure of the plot made the story feel interactive, and the constant reveals kept me hooked. The Hawthorne family drama added tension and intrigue, making the mystery even more compelling. I never felt like the story was predictable, and each new clue added another layer to the mystery. Overall, this was a clever and entertaining read that balances suspense, puzzles, and drama, making it hard to put down. A solid four-star read. ... show more

  • Intriguing
Format: Kindle
The amount of times I’ve read this novel is truly shameful lol. I really love the blend of mystery games. The romance was OK which I like. I liked that the romance did not overtake the plot of the story. I like that it was just included. I find it very interesting. I truly would love to meet the mind that created the story and discover how they came up with their ideas. Although the characters were interesting, the development was interesting. Although the plot was truly unique, which is one of the reasons I’ve read it so much. I cannot stand people who copy off each other, and this author did not copy off of anybody. ... show more

  • Best book ever written ♟️💚💵🫆
Format: Paperback
Quite literally one of the best books ever written. Jennifer Lynn Barnes has this way with writing that sucks you in within seconds. Every little detail is important to the big picture so you can’t ignore even the smallest thing. This book is one you can literally binge, so if you’re ever bored, just pick this up and you’ll be set for a week straight- you’ll be buying the rest of the series the day you read the first chapter in this phenomenal series. ... show more

  • Mediocre read
Format: Paperback
The concept of the storyline is good, yet the story itself is disconnected and often redundant. I wasn’t drawn to any character. I know this book is part of a series, but felt I was left hanging at the end. Won’t be purchasing next book in series. Done.

  • Fast Paced Mystery with Romance, Thrill and Lots of Riddles
Format: Kindle
Overall I really enjoyed this book, almost couldn’t put it down! It took me a little while to get past the insanity of the basic plot but once I delved into the world I loved it! Lots of twists and turns, always keeping you guessing. I guessed about half of the ending by about halfway through but I really enjoyed how it tied together towards the end. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series and seeing where the riddles, clues and hints take the cast of characters! ... show more

  • Absolutely Delightful!
Format: Kindle
I've read 60 books in the past three months, a mixture of fiction, non-fiction and 3 books of poetry. I had started three books in series that I love and had been waiting for them to be released, and for some reason not a single one of them was holding my interest. Then this book popped up as a recommendation, I saw that it was a young adult book, but even in my 50's, I find I can enjoy any genre if the story is good. I read the sample first and was transported to my youth and reminded of a book I loved as a child, called The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin and I was hooked! I read this in one day, in which I dreamed big, and puzzled hard! Every moment of this was delightful to me. I loved the characters, the plot, the feelings of simple joy it brought me as each mystery unfolded into the next one and the writing kept me absolutely engaged. I would not change a single thing. But right now I need to go, because I need to buy the next book in the series, to get lost in the riddles and mysteries of the Hawthorne family and Every is connections to them all. Read this book, young or old, you won't be disappointed. And I truly hope you enjoy it as much as I did. ... show more

  • A Fast, Fun Read - Perfect For Summer
Format: Kindle
A tightly-written mystery full of puzzles, engaging characters, and plenty of red herrings to keep the reader guessing. A completely ludicrous premise — a teenage girl inherits billions from a man she doesn’t know, making her the enemy of the man’s family — but that’s part of what makes the book so much fun. It ends, as all good first books in a mystery series should, with a great hook for the second book, which I will be buying momentarily. If you’re looking for a fast-paced, lightweight summer read and are a fan of mysteries, this would be a great choice. ... show more
