    • My dogs like a change
I usually feed them a frozen delivered food and sometimes I run out. I know that my spoiled dogs will eat this, and I keep it around for the times I have forgotten to defrost something or call in an order. My guy with allergies to everything can tolerate this and actually likes it. Win / win

i started feeding my 11lb service dog honest kitchen kitchen base mix in both flavors along with cooked beef after trying 5 other dog foods. she is allergic to rice and to chicken. the base mix solved the problem and i make it in daily batches and freeze (score the center so you can break into meals if you forget to remove the night before from the freezer). she loves both flavors. i also add a couple teaspoons of any veggies, cereal, fruit, etc i have as taste treats on the top. this has truly solved her food problem completely. i bought the patés this winter as a backup for anytime i am unable to cook for her or she needs to stay with someone on an emergency basis as i won't have her stay in any kennel that doesn't know her training and commands. i have been topping her meals with a little paté instead of the veggies etc for the last two weeks while i've had a bad cold. she has eaten it straight off with no stomach issues at all to where she can now eat half a box as a meal replacement. i am not a grain free person about my dog. dogs eat grains in the wild. she gets plenty of grains in treats etc. but i had to start figuring out what worked best for her and honest kitchen base mix and paté have truly been the answer. i have been so relieved these last 7 months to not have to worry about finding a food on which she thrives. incidentally i cook one lb of 93%lean beef for the base mixes and that makes 6 days of food. the paté meals will be fed as toppers so she can swap directly to them if necessary. thanks honest kitchen. ... show more

My dog loves this. I only gave it hour stars since it is a little expensive. But, it has wholesome clean ingredients so to me it's worth it. You can actually see veggies in this. If you want human grade good for your dog, this is it. I also get the dry food to go with this so I use this as a topper which makes it last longer. ... show more

My dog really enjoys this product. We use it as an enrichment snack and not a proper meal. I smush a spoonful in his licki-bowl, Lickibowl-mat, Toppl, Qwizzle, etc. to keep him occupied between meals. The box is unique and reminded me of when I moved elementary schools and my new school had bagged milk. The carton top tears better if you’re able to bend the perforation back and forth a few times. The box is more eco friendly than a metal can or plastic pouch/container so I fully support that initiative. It doesn’t say to store in the fridge after opening anywhere on the product but I tossed it in to make sure it stays good. The aroma is more pleasant that most canned dog foods but there is a little “gravy” in the carton that is congealed a bit so the ick factor is still there for me. However, I know what is in it and I don’t know or like what is in most other wet foods. We have this on a subscription plan so that we have it on hand because we do an enrichment or two every day depending on our schedule. Just don’t forget to calculate those calories out of your pet’s main meals. Overall, flavor, scent, packaging, price and ingredients are great. She likes other wet food, and used to line all Honest Kitchen, didn’t care for this at all. I ended up feeding it to my beagle who eats everything. Won’t buy it again. She is also now on 100% homemade food…

    • I have these on auto order. Dog loves it refrigerated and cut into cubes.
Our dog is spoiled, I'll admit it. :) She gets her daily kibble, lots of snacks, a daily Greenie, and then at night she gets a mini meal of human grade food. Sometimes it's chopped up chicken breast or hamburger meat, sometimes Fresh Pet chicken and turkey rolls, and other times it's this Honest Kitchen Beef. I've tried all the Honest Kitchen pate flavors, and this is the one my dog likes. In Winter/Spring, it's cold enough that the product ships firm. But in Summer the product melts and softens, and it just mushy. My dog hates mush, she only eats chunks. So in warm months I refrigerate the product, and then cut it into 5 slices, cut each slice in half lengthwise, and then cut it all into cubes. She'll eat it cold, and she also like it when I microwave the cubes for about 15 seconds. Just enough to slightly warm it without turning it to mush.     • I Thought I Found The Miracle to Encourage Senior Dog to Eat - Now It's Unavailable
My almost 17 year old girl has been an Honest Kitchen dog for over 10 years. Now that she quite elderly, she let me know she was done with her usual meals and needed something exciting to keep her interest in food. Seeing as Honest Kitchen helped her get to her advanced age, I did not hesitate to try this product. Smells great, ingrediants are perfect - for ONCE no sweet potatoes (which appear in 99.9% of 'healthy' food) which is a dangerous allergen to another dog in the household. No stomach upset AT ALL! Medications went down like a dream! Every scrap disappeared off of her plate when I mixed some of the Beef blend into her rehydrated Keen. We both were delighted! I put it on our Subscribe and Save. And then. like too many successful pet products on this site, it became UNAVAILABLE. What gives? This product came on the market in May 2020. A scant 13 months ago and now it's an unknown if it shall return. And all before my first Sub&Save was shipped. Praying it comes back. My girl is depending on it. ... show more
