  • Best classical fake book ever Best classical fake book ever
Format: Paperback
I am self taught pianist, and have played for 50 years hymns, Disney, Broadway pop. I have always enjoyed classical but never played much classical. This book is great. Music is in keys of C, F, Eb, G, D, including 7 ths. Augmented and diminished cords. The music is printed on good paper, dark enough and the score is large enough to make playing enjoyable. ... show more

  • Fun music book
Format: Paperback
I took lessons when I was young but stopped before becoming very accomplished but I do love to play and have a piano. I usually have to “learn” a piece and it takes me a while of working at it to do this. As a mother of 6, I don’t have a whole lot of spare time. This book allows me to play songs without having to spend a lot of time learning them. Some of the songs I will need fo work at a little but there are many I can just play. Thank you! I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Terrible print job Terrible print job
Format: Paperback
Amateurish print job. The inside margin is way too small so that it is hard to see the inner part of the pages. But, worse than than, some of the pages are not glued in and were cropped crookedly, so that parts of the printed pages are cut off.

  • Classical Lead Sheets - From Easy to Intermediate Classical Lead Sheets - From Easy to Intermediate
Format: Paperback
A perfect selection of 50 of the most popular/all time classical pieces -- shortened and in a lead sheet format. The pieces are arranged to be 1 or 2 pages each. The chords themselves are fairly simple, with the complex ones showing up more infrequently. The melodies are also easy to read without sacrificing authenticity. As far as difficulty goes, this is probably closer to a beginner->intermediate lead sheet reader then a true novice. But it also varies depending on the piece. The breakdown of keys for pieces is roughly as follows: 25% (No sharps/flats) 30% (1 s/f) 25% (2 s/f) 20% (3 s/f - mostly Cm) (None with 4+ s/f) Depending on your sight reading ability, you may be limited to what you can play at tempo. With that said, it's a great book if you already have some familiarity with C lead sheets, and want to expand and learn songs in more keys with slightly more complex chords. Personally, I finished the Hal Leonard Super Easy Songbook Series and moved onto this next which provided an adequate challenge. The digital kindle version is also perfect quality. Sometimes digitized piano books can be terrible photocopies but this one is Ultra HD and the bookmarks are all accurate and work! Conclusion: If you want a short and sweet lead sheet book for all your favorite classical pieces, and don't mind playing/learning the keys C/F/G/D/Bb/Eb , then this is a great book to pick up! ... show more

  • Playing Classical From the Word "Go"
Format: Paperback
Just received it today and already playing classical pieces that would have taken me weeks to decipher from traditional sheet music. Of course, the arrangements are greatly simplified but most of them don't lose the principal qualities that made them famous. Recommended for beginners and those who just want to have fun! ... show more
