Although I’ve been around coins since I was very little (grandfather had a coin shop in the late 50’s through the mid 70’s), only in recent years I’ve been able to tune in to the collectability of the rare coins he collected back then. This book shows clear examples of various errors to look for in our typical currency that often is overlooked. Easy enough for a beginner, and gives good tips on what to look for. Will help you talk to dealers who will always try to undercut you (something Grampa taught us, he was always fair and honest and ran a successful business). You’ll have better context to fairly grade and expect what your coin is worth. Nice book to have as a guideline. Have fun! ... show more

Excellent resource! The book explains the coin minting process, and what kinds of errors come from which processes. It gives a good description of errors and has some pictures. I’m glad I purchased it.

This coin error reference and educational book is a tremendous help to the beginning coin collector. It’s easy to read and keeps things very simple. If I were to suggest 1 thing, it would be to switch out the black/white coin photos illustrations for color. It would be much easier to assess the author’s discussion/example's.
