    • Defying Mainstream Obscurity

There are two types of people in this world. There are people who have heard of the Kama Sutra and people who have actually read it. It goes without saying that there are far more of the former in this world than the latter. Finding an electronic edition of such an ancient work that, by all reasonable standards, stands the test of time, easily warrants giving it five stars, especially since the translation quality of the text is of the highest order. Although I can understand why there are those who may not have the highest opinion of this edition because of the quality of the illustrations, I believe that regardless of their quality, because the text is all there, it impels the reader to work to understand what they are reading. Also, because this is an electronic edition, one would not need to worry about whatever physical defects might accompany a paperback or hardcover edition. This is a beautiful book but, if you are looking for a Kana Sutra guide in the bedroom I would advise looking at something else. This is strictly an educational book about the history and technical terms in Kama Sutra, not a sex guide. Since I was looking for something to give my boyfriend to branch out in the bedroom this did not meet my needs. If you are writing a paper or researching Kama Sutra this would be very informative and well written. ... show more

The title of the book is misleading. Do NOT expect a guidebook for the bedroom. Other than mentioning the existance of 64 positions, they never actually explain the positions or how to do them. This book is is more philosophical and cites archaic advice from times past that have no relevance to modern day society. Pros: Good quality paper and colorful artwork. Cons: No useful information on poses or positions. Very poor advice for modern times - there is no useful learnings you can apply to your life. Your skills will not improve. Very dry and boring read. This makes for a coffee table book at best to get guests intrigued on the topic. ... show more
