Description

From mountain streams in the west to rolling prairies in the east, Montana's habitats and natural resources offer an abundance of culinary possibilities. The mountains provide the necessities for a delightful elk tenderloin with huckleberry demi-glace, while the prairie contributes to rattlesnake cakes with roasted red pepper remoulade. And gardens and farms statewide produce the makings of Aunt Lois O'Toole's rhubarb strawberry pie. Chef Barrie Boulds and author Jean Petersen present locally sourced epicurean dishes that exude Montanan charm. Historical context enhances seventy-five easy yet sophisticated recipes celebrating unique flavors and heritage--with forewords from Chef Eric Trager and Western Ag Reporter editor Linda Grosskopf. • Amazing and wonderful cookbook with history and delicious recipes all in one!
I loved all the recipes. You can use most of the sauces for all different types of meats!

  • More than a cook book
Big Sky Bounty is a love affair with Montana! Gorgeous photos both of landscapes and local interest and the food made me want to visit and eat!

  • Pretty book, but cheap quality
Loved this book, with the beautiful images and all of the Montana-based recipes! However, the pages are super thin and kind of cheap - they feel almost like tissue paper. You can see straight through to the next pages which can make it difficult to read certain recipes, and I’m scared that if they got wet while cooking it would bleed through multiple pages. But again, the book is pretty with great images and fun recipes. You could even leave it out as a coffee table book, but the quality just isn’t that great. ... show more

  • BEST COOKBOOK EVER! High-End Restaraunt Recipes with Homecooking Ease
This cookbook combines beautiful photos, easy to follow recipes, with the elegance of restaurant flare. It shares recipes for unique dishes--rattlesnake and beaver anyone?--yet also has recipes such as tenderloin and desserts that melt in your mouth. They are delicious! I am not a gourmet chef by any means, but this cookbook makes me feel like I could be one. It also has Montana tid-bits: history and photos I've not seen anywhere else, but that add a true blend of history and culture. Big Sky Bounty Cookbook exceeds it's title and won't disappoint! ... show more

  • Montana Gem
What an absolute stunning book. The photography is beautiful and gives one the inside views of Montana lifestyle. The historical facts are fun to read. Not only that, the recipes for the for the Norwegian Rolls are to die for. We split the recipe in half and fantastic. The dough is so soft and light when completed. We have tried others and they have all been a success. It is on my list of gifts for Christmas and birthdays for this year. ... show more
