  • Excellent for Dog Owners!
This book is an excellent resource for dog owners. It is practical, easy-to-read, and concise, while also being thorough and extremely informative. If you are a dog owner, it is a must-read for you. The book is packed with extensive knowledge about how to keep your dog healthy, centering on how to properly feed your dog to ensure proper nutrition and good health. I really like how the book is broken into color-coded sections easily marked by headings, subheadings, and bullet points. This text structure helps organize the large amount of information into manageable chunks to ensure the reader comprehends and understands what they are reading. I also really like the cute little bones on each page to denote the page numbers and also bullet points. I found the many recipes for dog treats to be extremely helpful. I also thought it was impressive that the book is written by a veterinarian, so you can rest assured that the information presented is research-based and trustworthy. I recommend this book for all dog owners! ... show more

  • Healthy, Easy – A Must-Have for Dog Owners!
I never thought I’d be the type of pet parent who makes homemade treats, but here I am, and I couldn’t be happier! The Authentic Homemade Dog Treats Cookbook is more than just a recipe book—it’s a complete guide to ensuring my dog gets the healthiest, most nutritious snacks possible. One thing I really appreciate about this book is that it doesn’t just give recipes; it also provides valuable insights into canine nutrition, including which ingredients to avoid and how to spot potential food allergies. I love knowing that I’m giving my dog something safe and beneficial while also catering to his specific dietary needs. The recipes are super easy to follow, and most of them use ingredients I already have in my kitchen, which is a huge plus. My dog has already developed a love for the Pumpkin & Oat Bites and the Peanut Butter Banana Freezies—his excitement when I pull them out makes it all worth it! I also like that the book includes treats for different purposes, from allergy-friendly options to dental chews. Overall, this book has been a fantastic addition to my kitchen, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to spoil their pup with healthy, homemade treats. It’s practical, well-organized, and filled with delicious recipes that any dog would love! ... show more

  • More than a “cookbook” for pet treats
This is well-organized and extremely well researched. I was surprised (in a good way) to see information on detecting toxicity in dogs, as well as how to adjust custom treats to a dog’s weight and size. The treats are organized into baked, no-bake, frozen and even some treats to combat halitosis in your favorite pooch (also why he / she gets bad breath). A fantastic, practical pet owners’ guide AND cookbook. ... show more

  • Excellent Resource
Dr. Samantha Reed offers great advice in The Authentic Homemade Dog Treats Cookbook. She lists the importance of healthy treats, tells some food items to avoid, and lists some of the symptoms your dog may exhibit if they have an allergy to some foods. There are a lot of recipes to choose from. One of the things I liked most about this book was the fact that I typically have most of the ingredients in my home at all times, so it isn't as if I need to go out and buy something unusual to make a healthy treat that my dog will enjoy. I encourage you to buy this book and try the recipes yourself and improve upon the diet you provide your pawbabies. ... show more

  • Your Pup Will Thank You—With Tail Wags and Happy Licks
Okay, I didn’t expect to become that dog parent, but The Authentic Homemade Dog Treats Cookbook totally won me over. Store-bought treats were always kind of a gamble with ingredients I couldn’t pronounce, and this book makes it super easy to whip up snacks I actually feel good about giving my dog. The best part? You don’t need anything fancy. Most recipes use stuff I already had in the pantry, and a lot of them took less than 30 minutes. The Pumpkin Peanut Butter Biscuits were a hit in my house, and the Watermelon Mint Cubes? Perfect for summer. I also loved that the book has treats for every stage of life and even offers allergy-friendly and dental-health options. It’s written with real care—from a vet who clearly loves dogs—and the little tips sprinkled throughout are really helpful. Whether you’re spoiling a new puppy or pampering your senior dog, this book just makes treat time feel more personal and way more fun. Total win. ... show more

Impressive book. Very well done and definitely written by a Vet. I learned a lot of useful and important information here. It’s all laid out very clearly and not confusing or complicated at all. I thought it would be something more for my mother, but turns out I will be keeping this book handy and making good use of it.
