  • A wonderful and generous YOU CAN DO IT book
Format: Paperback
This book is a gem. As an artist/writer/retailer who has been in the business of art for 30 years, and is asked all the time, "How did you do it?" I can now point them to this book, and say, "Read this." Stacie writes with a confident, honest and friendly voice. She takes you by the hand and leads you into a world that most people don't talk about. How to make money being an artist! Do you have to be Picasso to make money? No. Do you have to be dead to have people appreciate your art? No. Listen, Stacie says, I did it. You can do it too. You're gonna love her. She is truly generous--sharing her own journey, her flops, her goofy mistakes, the hard lessons she's learned. And she's a great teacher. She makes a creative life/career doable. Of course everyone's "journey" is different, and that's what's so powerful about this book. It celebrates the various paths available (and of course there is also the path still to be imagined--by you maybe?), encourages you to learn from others as well as to learn to trust yourself. There is no ONE way to be a creative person and make money at it. There are many, many ways. Stacie surrounds herself (in this book and also in her creative powerhouse society) with other artists who are equally generous with their experiences and knowledge. Women especially need this book. In this book, you will read about a lot of creative entrepreneur-women who find a way to be home, be moms, but also make money with their art. This is a warm hug of a book, a yes, you can do it book, a trust yourself and your dreams book and most importantly a validation of creativity in the world. Does creativity matter? Yes. A lot? Yes. Can it make you happy? Yes. Can it make you money? Yes. I'm buying this book for all sorts of people I know who need it. I'm also going to carry it in my stores with a big sign saying, "Read this and go out there and create a fulfilling life for yourself (and maybe a career too!)". ... show more
