Size- it’s small so you can tuck it behind anything and it fits nicely, I tucked mine behind the monitor stand and it blended right in. Built- it’s very firm, not flimsy at all. Set up- Easy as 1,2,3…. I connected it to my laptop and then my 2 monitors. I am able to see 3 different tabs, and this has been really useful for my line of work. Signal- when I 1st attached it, it gave a jump and my screen went blank, I plugged it out and attached it back and it never gave me any issues from then. All I did was to go to my laptop settings and select “extend” and it automatically connected all my monitors. Sound- it did change my speaker output to “USB Drive” so to hear back the sound I change my output setting back to device speaker. Power- it gets its boosts from your main device (laptop, desktop etc) there is no extra plug or need to charge it. Amazing purchase! ... show more

I had been struggling the past few weeks to get my 2nd external monitor connected to my laptop (for a total of 3 screen including my laptop screen). I have this device connected to my two KYY portable monitors to the left of the picture. I need to be able to be portable when I work and use an extended desktop. My laptop only had one HDMI cable connection and this allows me to plug into a USB port and use both monitors as extended monitors. Follow the 'very good' steps to set up, and you should be good to go. Like others, I found the USB connector cable provided was a little loose when I connected it to my laptop. This could be a problem for some people, once I set up I should be fine. I was able to use with both my work computer a dell latitude and also with my HP personal computer, both Windows based. I wish it didn't require an app to be loaded to my machine because I had to request special access from my workplace (as I don't have administrator rights to my laptop there), that was kind of a pain. Because of needing to load additional software and also because of the loose USB connection I'm giving it four stars. I'm not sure if it'll pass the test of time but for now, it does what it is advertised to do. ... show more

No issues since purchased in Oct 2023. Works well with my dual 32' setup for my home office. Recently noticed that on occasion, the monito would flicker. Current setup: Laptop USB and hdmi. 1st monitor vga only. 2nd monitor vga or dvi. Purchased 2 cables for monitors. 1st vga to hdmi. 2nd dvi to hdmi. Connected startech device to USB. Connected both cables for the monitors to each hdmi port on the startech device. Started laptop. Both monitors turned on. Setup display options especially resolution. Done. Monitor boot up time is identical to laptops monitor almost instant no delays. Viewed on all screens to test quality using an online video. No issues noticeable. Even fluid visually when putting video into full-screen and non full screen. I've used startech brand before and even now hasn't disappointed in quality of product. I could've bought cheaper brand, but probably would run into issues such as connectivity so paid more for a better quality item (startech). Laptop running windows 10 with only 1 hdmi port and 3 USB ports so either way this item was needed to connect 2 extra monitors besides the laptop screen. Monitors almost old but still useful because of this type of product. Saved $100s in new monitors or desktop with video card capable of multiple monitor connections and more headaches on setup. ... show more

This fixed my problem. I have an ASUS VivoBook 15 laptop that I wanted to connect to dual monitors and extend the display. I was looking at USB-C adapters to do this but the problem is my laptop's USB-C port doesn't have display functionality. I even contacted ASUS tech support for advice on how to get around this and they said my only option was to purchase a docking station, which was over my budget. I found some Reddit users with my same laptop reporting that this device worked for them... and it absolutely does. I'm able to connect my laptop to dual monitors and extend the display. I think the key factor is the external video card in this device. It works like a charm. I just plugged it in and it immediately worked. I didn't even have to install any software. I should note that I'm not using this for gaming. I am an editor and just wanting the dual monitors to boost my work-at-home productivity. For my purposes, this device is perfect, but I can see it struggling for people who are expecting gaming-level performance. Before this HDMI adapter, I the following and none of them worked for video at all: Anker 310 USB-C Adapter (4K HDMI) PowerExpand 8-in-1 USB-C PD Media Hub StarTech.com 117B-USBC-MULTIPORT I think it's because my Intel 13900KF doesn't have an integrated GPU, and my RTX 4080 doesn't have it's own USB-C port. This one doesn't have power delivery or any additional USB ports, but it actually works AND it works through 2 hubs (my monitor, then a switched 4-port). If you don't need 4K 60Hz and have been struggling with more advanced HDMI dongles, try this one. ... show more
