Probably the best strainer on the market. Fits perfectly in the shaker and mixling glass too. Strings are so dense which keeps even tiny ice chips inside, not letting it through. No need for fine strainer.

If you're looking at Hawthorne strainers, you're probably getting at least a bit serious about cocktails. I'm not quite full bore (no, I don't have a set up for making smoked cocktails) but I've been at it for a while and this is a nice piece of gear. It's well designed, solid, and has a high-quality spring (unlike the cheap loosely wound springs you see on the junk versions you'll see in a grocery store). I was looking for a better Hawthorn strainer (the ones I have now are mediocre, at best). Basically looking for a better/tighter coil for straining. I love a Manhattan now and then. We did not have a bar strainer so checked Amazon. Have used it for a few months and we are very happy with it. Finish is good. Nice heft to it. Seems well made. I would purchase it again.
