  • Inspirational but a let down
I received a free copy of this cookbook in exchange for my honest review. I read it from cover to cover when I first got it and I was so excited to have a cookbook which would make my life easier that I cancelled my Hello Fresh and Blue Apron subscriptions right away, and I dusted off my three crockpots. It's well organized and extremely creative. Hard-boiled eggs in the slow cooker! Homemade sausage! Risotto! Even cookies! So, yes, I found this book to be inspirational and informative and the background health information to be well-written. All of the recipes sound delicious. However, when it came to actually trying the recipes, they were a huge let down. For one thing, she never says what size crockpot to use for any of them. This is really aggravating and may have led to some of our recipe failures. Small things in the directions are confusing (like the Turmeric-Broccoli Soup says to use two whole heads of broccoli instead of telling you to chop them first). We tried the following recipes from this cookbook: Strawberry & Chia Seed Jam Balsamic-Glazed Turkey Wings German Chocolate Cake Protein Oats Chicken-Apple Breakfast Sausage Turmeric-Broccoli Soup I would only make one of these recipes again, the chocolate overnight oats. I'm still giving the cookbook three stars because it did really make me excited about cooking, and I'm sure somewhere in there I will find a recipe that's a winner. ... show more

  • It became too painful to lift heavy pots, but now I mostly cook in my instant pot / slow cooker
I like this book. the recipes are intentionally simple because when you are having a joint pain flare up, you cant chop a bunch of things. I was getting to the point that it was just too painful to feed myself. I was ordering out a lot and Lets face it, most restaurants use cheap GMO ingredients. I am always in pain. This book is well written and yes to address some negative comments, it does assume you know basic cooking techniques. So learn them. Its a goid book. I have the kindle because my eyes are poor and the hard copy for kids to flip through. I use my instant pot every day. ... show more

  • Format challenging for those with vision limitations
Eager to mend my bad habits I ordered this book. At first, glance looks like a good collection. The format is faint print and find myself disappointed due to small font. Buyer beware.

  • Save your money and check Pinterest or the library
Save yourself some $$ and check this one out of the library. Recipes are not anything you couldn’t find on Pinterest for free. Wish my local library had had this one so I could have checked it out before buying!

  • Tasty and Healthy
I suffer from osteoarthritis, which is one of the many inflammatory conditions. Since I wanted the inflammation response to settle down a bit, I felt like a change in diet was worth trying. After making a lot of the recipes in this cookbook, I can honestly say it is a keeper. Everything that I’ve cooked has been delicious, and healthy to boot! It’s worth giving it a try ... show more

  • Pick a different anti-inflammatory cook book
Pick a different cook book. The layout of the book is nice and the blurbs at the top of each recipe are great. I enjoy cooking and was excited to try some healthy slow cooker recipes. But, most of these recipes can be accomplished on the stove in a fraction of time. I love risotto and cook it on the stove, decided to try the slowcooker recipe. The risotto was bland and mushy, I had to throw it all away. The second recipe is how to boil an egg in the slowcooker for 6 hours! What a waste of time. Overnight oats in the slowcooker! The whole point of overnight oats is to put them in the fridge for the night and they are ready the next day. This book takes a traditional recipe that would take no more than 20 minutes to cook and stretches them out to 6-8 hours of destruction in a crockpot. ... show more

  • Not only best anti-inflammatory, but best Instant Pot for people who keep it simple.
Very nice tips and tricks, and wonderful recipes with items I'd have on hand or there is an easy substitute for. I'm a new Nutri-Pot owner, and this has given me a better idea of how the thing works, even though it's written for Instant Pot, so some of the settings have different names. So glad to have it. ... show more
