PGF (Professional Grade Fertilizer) Complete 16-4-8 takes all the research, top products, and necessary nutrients, and combines them into one bag. Unless a soil test shows that you need a nutrient adjustment, most experts and studies say the same thing: apply a 4-1-2 ratio fertilizer for the best results as a regular maintenance application. PGF Complete 16-4-8 is formulated with that 4-1-2 ratio (16-4-8) and is also high in iron and other micronutrients. With quick- and slow-release nitrogen, PGF Complete 16-4-8 provides turf with nutrition for up to 8 weeks. Reapply every 6 to 8 weeks for best results. This product is wow! I have a new lawn, as in it was installed in Nov 2018. The Houston Spring/Summer has been record dry and hot this year so my lawn needed help. I was watering my lawn, applying Humic DG (for the soil) and Scotts turf builder for new lawns and even 10-10-10 fertilizer. But it just wasn't looking as it should. It was filledin but not thick. And some spots looked stressed. Then I was told PGF Complete. So I bought a bag in July and put it down. After about a 3-4 days I saw a noticeable darker green shade of the lawn. And within 2 weeks there were thick patches all over. (The patches I assume were from uneven distribution of the PGF when we applied it). FFwd to 4-5 weeks later and my lawn is thicker and healthier looking overall. The one down side to this product is that you go from cutting your lawn every 2 weeks to at least once a week. We're garden people, so that's fine for us, but just be warned. This thing really works, so be prepared to cut your lawn more frequently. UPDATE It’s been about 2 years since my last review and I continue to use PGF Complete and other Andersons products (10-10-10, Humic DG, Duocide, Barricade) with complete success. I’ve uploaded pics of my lawn where you can clearly see the difference between what my lawn looks like vs my neighbours. These pics were taken after a full week of rain and it just looks lush. I have gotten lots of compliments and questions, and I refer everyone to the Andersons store on Amazon. Yes they’re a little pricey, but when you consider one of their products/treatments is probably equal to 2 or 3 treatments from other cheaper products, well it works to be very cost effective. 2023 Update SIX STARS! It’s been a couple years since the last update and I’ve spent the last 9+ months focussing on the backyard. Voilá! Not surprised by the results. This, along with other Andersons products (humic, preemergent, etc), has the yard looking top notch. The last photos/vid were from last weekend, very much ready for the Memorial Day festivities. Many think it’s fake until they walk on it. It took lots of pampering to get it to this point but using Andersons products made the task easier.

I first started off in my lawn journey a few years back. When I purchased my home, my lawn was 99% weeds and dirt patches. I threw some Home Depot fertilizer and wow green! Then I realized it was all weeds :(. so I bought generic weed spray killer and planted seeds (that grew 5% of what I put down). Some weeds died , some lived over the next couple of years and and then started to come back and kill grass. 3 years later (this year) I put down a pre-emergent for the first time super heavy in the winter. Come around may I got down to about 5% weeds if that. But, the grass was brown, dry, and struggling during the growing season. I was not going to settle for paying for lawn care company when I put my hard work and tons of sweat in the Atlanta heat into it. Bags and bags of seeds, tons of weed killer, milorganite, lime, even paid for a soil test(didn’t come back anything alarming). Something about doing it yourself vs. like trugreen feels so much better when you reach your goal. So I took to YouTube, found Doc’s videos, figured I’d give this product a try. I aerated my lawn (with the manual tool after about an hour of rain, took about an hour it was a workout!). And threw this down at the bag rate. Watered it for a week by hand , and got a week of rain. I could see the grass grow during this period like wildflower, and green up every day. It’s like it activated 3 years of seeds that natural fertilizer/ box store spray fertilizer couldn’t do. So happy 14 days later, I didn’t expect these results. Next I’ll try the humichar like doc said in about a week to improve the soil. I’m ready for my buddies to come over so I can show off my green and tell them the secret sauce. Will be using at LEAST 2-3 times through the warm months to continue to improve lawn. I still have a few patches where I can see grass currently spreading into and turning into a full lawn. My wife will be upset that I’m spending so much time outside taking in my new view! Good luck

7/13/19 - I ordered 3 bags of PGF complete and 2 bags arrived on 7/5/19. I applied them too my backyard and watered it in that evening. I was curious to see if there would be a difference between my back and front yard. I left for vacation and was unable to water it until I returned 7/12/19. When I was gone it was hot and dry all week and the area that did not receive the PGF barely grew and I had a difficult time seeing where I was mowing. The area that had the PGF grew a 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch longer than the area only a few feet away from where I ran out of fertilizer. Although it was barely noticeable, the back yard was slightly more green. I watered it when I arrived home on 7/12/19. The color really began to change over the course of the next day. There is now a definite line between my neighbors yard and mine. I wish I could say it was all due to the fertilizer but the color difference is mostly due to the fact that he does not water his lawn, but it is quite noticeable. I included an unedited cell phone photo of my lawn from the afternoon on 7/13. The 3rd bag of fertilizer arrived when I was gone and I applied it on 7/13. I have to agree with a previous reviewer that one bag only covered about 4,000 square feet using the recommended settings on the bag, but that is likely due to me overlapping a little too much with my scotts edge guard rotary spreader. I am pleased that my lawn did not get burned because it was 84-90 when I was gone and no rain according to the weather history in Columbus, Ohio. Obviously, the cost is a draw back since it is more than many other fertilizers, but certainly less than having a lawn service. I can justify the cost difference because I don't have to buy humic acid separately. I will update the post if I have any other useful information. 7/19/19 - I added another photo 2 days after receiving some rain showing the difference between my lawn and neighbors. You can see that the difference between our lawns is not as dramatic after getting some rain. I think he uses the Scotts program? The neighbor who lives in the house behind the truck in the first photo uses the Scotts program and his lawn always looks nice... he has an irrigation system.
