The suspense of the Cold War adds to the realism of this well-crafted series. Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys give top-notch acting, portraying KGB agents planted in the US as sleeper agents, with background and marriage all manufactured by the KGB. A normal American family, with two children and a cover as owner of a travel agency, they are tasked by the KGB to work for their country, the Soviet Union. Margo Martindale and Frank Langella give standout performances as their handlers, and Richard Thomas, from The Waltons, gives a great portrayal as the head of the FBI intelligence division. DVDs include some great deleted scenes and outtakes. If you already love the show and are considering this purchase, I think it's worth it. I mean, whole show for $25 (on sale) or $20/season to stream it in low-def. Plus the bonuses. :) If you don't yet know this show, trust me when I tell you that you need to know it. This show is the cure for bad spy movies that hyper-accelerate character development while ignoring nuanced chaos. In this show, they explore all of it, and it's glorious. This is the Sopranos, only the villains you should hate but can’t, are Soviet sleeper agents. Watching them fall apart while trying to raise a family is fascinating and horrible. My dvd player can’t follow the Play All command on individual disks. Choosing individual episodes is made much too complicated by the bizarre menu arrangement. I have watched the series before and so found myself missing an episode and losing the plot. Just list the episodes and spare us the absurd navigation symbols next time. I loved the series when it aired on tv, and I missed some episodes in each season. ( Vacations, cable outages, ...) . This is the perfect way to see the ENTIRE series from start to finish, and really get into it. I liked the fact that when I saw something in an episode and wondered, "Hey what? Did I miss something here?", I could stop the DVD, and back it up and re-watch. With the lack of new TV shows now, due to Covid this is great way to watch a really good show in full. Acting, directing and script all first rate. It’s the story of a young married couple, both born and raised in Russia, then paired up and sent to America as spies. FBI agent moves in across the street from them and slowly begins to realize who and what his neighbors are!

Good show. A time capsule of the Reagan era with cold war intrigue & spycraft. It's interesting to watch how Phillip & Elizabeth compartmentalize their missions & their family life. I like the KGB point of view as well.

Simply a magnificent show, from beginning to end. In its entirety, I would rate this as one of the top shows in the history of television, along with "The Shield" and "Breaking Bad". There were perhaps two or three episodes that were "just okay", but the rest were all riveting. And every disc was in pristine condition and played perfectly. Yes, the packaging is perhaps a bit clumsy, but not really all that inconvenient. Yes, there could have been more extra features on the DVDs. But seriously...six seasons of a show of this quality, at this low price? Buying this set was the biggest no-brainer in history. ... show more

Enjoyed this series immensely on streaming. I wasn't quite sure if the genre would be interesting to me. Not typically into spy stuff. But this is not your ordinary spy show. The characters, acting, directing, writing... all superb! I bought the DVD set for a gift for a couple who does not stream. I hope they love it as much as I did. ... show more
