  • Must have for young builders too! Unbelievable value.
I purchased this kit for my 6yo son and I to work on, we have never done a modeling kit like this before and our prior experience is with legos. My son loves to build and he loves robots so I thought this kit would be a good transition to something other than legos. I knew going in it was going to take a long time and I set that expectation upfront. We would spend 30minutes to an hour once a week on it until we finished. I realized quickly I would have to do the cutting if I wanted the pieces to have clean cuts, I used an old pair of cuticle cutters that did just that, no sanding required (that’s what I had and worked for us) and my son did the building. He completed 80-90% of the build on his own and I provided guidance the other 10-20% and as recommended in the instructions, we recruited his 9yo sister to build the 2nd robot so we could finish faster. After the 1st building session my son asked everyday if we could work on the robot, he loved this project so much he couldn’t wait for me so he started to build and cut pieces on his own until he got stuck and he would ask for help. We love the side to side hip action, ability to change from upper cuts to jabs, interchangeable masks, kangaroo and robot. My son did ask if I could purchase additional masks for more variety of boxers, so maybe this could be considered as a future product add on. This kit is absolutely amazing and an astounding value at $35, we definitely recommend it to kids that love to build, the quality of the pieces, the experiment for hydraulic vs pneumatic power, and at the end of it all you have two water powered boxing robots that you built!! So cool!! This is the best toy I have bought in a while. I will look into purchasing more items like this, it is so much more than a toy. Thank you Thames and Kosmos. ... show more

  • Very happy with this purchase.
The media could not be loaded. My son wanted robot boxers as a gift. We made a research and chose this set because it required preliminary self-assembly. We read the comments that it was nor easy for someone to assemble the set and decided that we should buy this set, because our son is not interested in simple toys. My son is 9 y.o . He did all completely on his own. To complete this set took him several days, and he found it a fun process. This is a really cool idea to give a child the opportunity to completely assemble a controlled toy. He had a problem with one little part, I wrote to the manufacturer’s support and the manufacturer quickly sent us a new part for free. Son has a robotic arm from the same company (also enjoyed it) He received it as a birthday present and completed it first. I absolutly recommend this set as an educational, interesting and well-designed game for 9+ y.o. ... show more

  • Quality time with a lesson hidden in the fun
I build kits like these with my son, started around age 4, he's 10 now. This has been one of the most fun to build and also play with. Sadly, alot of kits are junk, they fall apart as quick as you built them, I do not have the budget for high end kits that often. The build quality of this is excellent, it holds together, no leaks. The instructions say 3 hours each, we each did one, I think it was around 1.5 hours or so, not racing, just enjoying the time. Do make sure you get a good little set of snips to clean the plastic tabs up, it will fit together much better. After we did this, he came out to the shop and was looking at the backhoe, I asked "does that make more sense now?" He smiled and said "yeah, I can see how it works since we built the fighter kit" Awesome "light bulb" moment! ... show more
