Description

Soaring spires, towering arches, fascinatingly complex curves and angles! Build your foundation in Architectural design with this fascinating STEM experiment kit that explores the engineering principles behind planning and developing buildings and structures. Through model building exercises you play the role of architect and engineer as you piece together an array of models, from small, basic structural elements like trusses, arches, and domes, to giant complex models of real-world buildings. With 20 guided model builds, you can construct stadiums, skyscrapers, a Ferris wheel, and more. By getting hands-on with these exercises, you'll develop an understanding of how architectural engineers apply scientific principles to their designs and how the buildings and structures of the 21st century push materials and engineering to the limits. The 44-page, full-color manual guides your journey while encouraging independent exploration. What is the tallest tower, The most voluminous dome, or the longest bridge you can build with the modular building pieces? How will you use what you learn to further your architectural journey?

  • Great for nine year old grandchild
On visit by grandchild, this was first choice. Properly challenging; great opportunity for child and adult to work together and discuss what makes a building project strong. We looked at pictures of Roman arches, of the Eiffel tower, of ancient and new projects. Super project.

  • Great gift for the little engineer in your life
My grandson is a little engineer or maybe computer scientist in the making. He loves to use his hands to build things. This was a perfect gift for him.

  • Great gift for young builders!
Clear instructions and several projects in addition to the ability to design your own projects! My grandson, 10, loved this gift. Some of the parts were missing, and one phone call got us complete satisfaction.

  • Great for my gifted nephew!

  • Perfect for young people who want to become engineers.
I bought this product for my grandson and he loves it. Perfect gift.

  • wonderful learning tool
The age range says 8 and up, but my budding 5 (almost 6) yr old builder loves it. He needs help putting some of the pieces together and especially taking them apart, but is increasingly learning to do so on his own. So far we've built the eiffel tower and the ferris wheel. They're remarkable structures--engaging, attractive, and remarkably illustrative of the power of different shapes in architectural enginneering. ... show more

  • a challenge- not metal
This is proving to be a challenge, which is great! However, we assumed the product was metal but it is plastic and upon further analysis of the image, it does appear to be white plastic, we just assumed it was metal.

  • Parts are plastic, not metal
My 13 year old son really enjoys this. Only downside, and the reason for 4 stars, is that the pieces are plastic; not metal. The picture on the box makes the pieces look like they’re metal, but they aren’t. They aren’t made of cheap, flimsy plastic, though. They’re quite durable and have plenty of flexibility. Overall, we’re quite satisfied. ... show more
