We had a tree come down and land partially on some of the wire fence going down the driveway. We were just going to use a hammer to try and tighten the fence up some, but I came across this tool and decided to try it. The tool is fairly large and bulky to carry around. I have tried to use it myself and couldn't figure it out, so had to resort to YouTube videos. Okay, now that I understand how to use it, I was still unable to really fix the fence myself and am going to get my husband to come out and help me with the fence the next time he has some time off. The Fence Fixer is built well and feels very heavy duty, I was just not strong enough to pull the fence together as tight as I wanted it. I COULD get it tighter, just not to where I wanted it, so I will have him come help me.

Honestly, I was a little frustrated trying to use this tool until I watched a few videos. Now, when working on wire fencing, this is my go-to tool. I tried the foam wrap it comes with, don’t waste your time. I ended up using high grade electrical rubber tape, covered in a good vinyl electrical tape. This tool will really pull tension on the fence, and can break the lower strength wires. A great and handy tool.

I only captured a small bit of the barbed wire that I had to stretch tight, and yet the Texas Fence Fixer hung onto the wire with relentless authority. This tool is perfect for fixing miles of fence line in the case where barbed wire is characterized by a moderate amount of droop between fence posts. (Like a one foot droop between fence posts that are spaced 8 feet apart. It takes a few minutes and a few tries to get accustomed to using it, but if you used this tool to fix fencing repeatedly, it wouldn't be long before you could use this tool in your sleep. However, this tool is of no use for fixing line breaks in barbed wire. That is to say it won't join severed line back together. You need a different tool to fix line breaks. But if you just need to take the droop out of barbed wire that has been getting saggy for past 100 years, this tool makes short work of that task. The tool's jaws and adjustments depend on bolts, which, if they snapped, would be very easy to replace with new bolts available at any hardware store, which means it's easy to repair. But I can only imagine this tool breaking and needing a repair if somebody used it far beyond its working load, i.e., abused it. like a maniac.

This is good if you have some sagging wire you want to tighten up. It's a little finicky but once you get the hang of it it works reasonably well. It lets you exert a lot of force by multiplying your leverage, so it works well even on long runs of sagging wire as long as it's not fixed in place. It isn't, though, of much use for fixing broken wire so it does have limited use, but what it does, it does well.
