  • Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep
So I'm pretty tall. Not the vain, "oh-look-I-can-see-over-you" kinda tall, but more of the "oh-my-god-it's-coming-this-way" kinda tall. Like 6-foot, 9-inches of tall, which makes it hard to find a cot that doesn't leave my legs dangling off the end like tasty snake snacks. So when I found this elongated cot option, I rolled the proverbial die and gave it a whirl. It's inaugural deployment was a multi-day outland excursion into the canyonlands of Utah. I weigh a feathery 220 lbs, but the Teton elevated me above the rocky terrain with aplomb. It takes a bit of wrestling to engage the shorter aluminum slats at each end, but once assembled, the surface is as taut as a funeral drum. The entire apparatus is substantially built, so the folded iteration is a bit bulky and on the heavier side. But it kept my buttermilk-soft posterior off the cold, unforgiving ground, and denied any wandering reptiles or scorpions an opportunity to snuggle with me. The dark fabric does tend to showcase any camping dust and dirt, but it brushes off fairly easily. ... show more

  • Poor quality, poor customer service
Size: Universal w/Pivot Arm
I received this cot with the special pivot arm broken off. It took me quite a while to realize it should have been attached, after struggling to complete the set up of the cot. The pivot arm is what supposedly makes this cot unique and easier to set up. I contacted the company through the form on their website and have not heard back. I also tried calling, only to find out their voice mailbox is full. So far not impressed with Teton Sports' product quality or their customer service. I plan to return the cot, but wanted to give them a chance to work with me first. Guess they don't care to. ... show more

  • Solid. Solid as a rock.
Got this to use for guests at our home and to step up our glamping game. We're campers, hikers, backpackers, canoers, etc. And gear hoarders. Well, I am, anyway. We have tents in all sizes, chairs for every purpose, the camp kitchen, the tiny stove, the big stove, the water filter pump, the bear canister ... basically, I'm the one who saves everyone when the hurricane, earthquake, tsunami, or zombie apocalypse happens. I bought this with the excuse that when guests stay, we'd have a temporary bed we could put up in my home office. The real reason is: we have a ginormous tent it will fit in and I had the urge to acquire more stuff. I just needed to get my husband to like this cot, then I could get another one and we'd BOTH have one. yay! It worked. He loved it, but since he's a big strong man, he thought it could be bigger. So yay! I got the XXL one too! :) We're taking them camping for the first time this weekend, and will post pics of them in our glamping set up. Note; It is hard to get the last cross bar into place - it takes some effort, but I have read that it will get easier over time. I found that if I braced my shin/calf against the legs, I was able to get leverage to put the piece in place by myself. It is easier with 2 people... EDIT: we camped Saturday night, set the two cots up in our Big Agnes Tensleep Station 6. Boy, I imagined we'd have more room in there than we did. I think 2 Universals would have fit better, but it worked. This is 1 Teton Sports Universal and 1 Teton XXL side by side. We had to position the cots with the cross bars touching the outer walls of the tent - which for the Sleepstation wasn't such a big deal as it has a full cover rain fly - so it wouldn't cause more than minimal condensation. IF you have a single wall tent or a partial rain fly, make sure you check your tent dims to see if these fit. Thinking if we ever had to spend time in the tent, we would just stack the cots til bed time came. There is really only room for one person at a time to walk between the cots - we had about 18" of space at the tent entrance. Overnight temps were around 40 degrees, but breezy and damp. We used Big Agnes insulated pads with the cots. The pads are not as wide as the cots, but they did work really well. The pads are 25" and about 1.5" thick and insulated. ... show more

  • LE is easier to set up
Size: Adventurer w/Pivot Arm
Very sturdy and will be great for camping. Comfortable. I would definitely recommend the LE version for anyone looking to make set up easier; if I didn’t have the extra handle I wouldn’t have been able to set it up myself . I’m a 29 y.o female and it Would have been impossible by myself. I’m happy I paid the extra 10 For it. ... show more

  • Great cot
Size: Adventurer w/Pivot Arm
Its not something you would backpack with but that doesnt matter to me because I specifically wanted it to sleep in the back of my truck. Its a great cot for its purpose. Strong and sturdy. Im happy with it. Im 6 foot 187 lbs. People who complain about not being about to set it up are either super weak or looking for something to complain about. Its easy to set up. The little swing-arm on the LE makes it a cinch and I didnt really even need it. But its a great cot, nice and tight, works good for me. I sleep on it with the TETON mattress pad and the Deer Hunter -35* sleeping bag. See my review for that too. I was not asked or paid for this review. Just a happy customer. ... show more

  • Doesn’t hold as expected
We were in the middle of a move so we ordered a cot as the movers would be taking our bed. I already had an air mattress so I convinced my husband to purchase a cot explaining a cot would be more comfortable. My husband is a bigger guy 6’1.. So that’s why we made sure the weight restriction would be no where near his weight of 300lbs. This states it can take up to 450lbs. Well it doesn’t. After him sleeping for about 4 hours the cot collapsed. There it is in the picture. I will be returning for a refund. Cheaply made and very disappointed. ... show more
