I recently replaced spark plug coils on a 12 year old car. Needless to say, the release tabs on the connectors crumbled and required replacement. I was ready to cut & solder the old connectors with the new ones, but then I saw a video of someone using a depinning tool to release the old connectors and putting them in the new connectors. After I figured out how to release the pins (it was a little frustrating), it was a breeze to do the other connectors. If it wasn't for this type of tool, I'd still be under the hood cutting & soldering.

This set gets a four star review because they worked to replace the connectors for the coil packs on my son's VW. I am guessing they give you multiples of everything because they are rather flimsy and my guess is will damage them with repeated use. With that said, I may never use these again, so they have fulfilled their purpose....

Searched all over trying to find a deponning tool for some automotive electrical work. Came across these and purchased them. They're very easy to use but you will have to try a few before you find the right size or length or width of the key you need. They come in a convenient case to store them all. They're very thin allowing access to even the very small pins. Worked well for my application. Value is great.

There is a reason it comes with 3 sets of tools, they are weak and cheaply made. If you occasionally need them they are ok, if you use these on a daily basis, don't waste your money

Mobile heavy equipment mechanic/ technician.........nice small package for easy storage. Great price for the huge selection of de pinning tools. I run into all sorts of different electrical connectors on different equipment. Dozers, loaders, excavators, trucks, etc. Having these with the different configurations is invaluable. I needed to replace a TSE connector on a Mack MP8 truck for the EGR differential pressure sensor. Price for the tool from TSE was $78........one tool. Just to pin the connectors. I bought that and this set. They both do the same job.......take the pins out and install them. The OEM $78 is definitely built/made beefer.........but its not worth $78.........this set works on those connectors. Now......for the people saying these stink or they are hard to use. It's only easy if you know how to do it!! When your working blind, can't see how the pins are retained in the connector.......well, your going to have a tough go at it if this is your first time depinning connectors. Just because you bought this big set doesn't make you an expert. Ever try to pick a lock?? You can buy a nice little assortment of lock picks. It's not going to make you an expert at picking locks. You need to know how the lock pins and mechanism works. Just like electrical pins..........a deutsch connector is different from a Weather Pack connector. Its going to be hard working in the blind if this is your first time taking a connector apart. And I make this statement also knowing that all tools are not made with the same quality and construction. Just my thoughts after reading some these reviews before buying this set.

This is a nice set of picks and a nice case to boot which makes it a great value. You basically get several sets of the same picks so this likely will last the average user a lifetime and then some. If you are a heavy user who breaks them or loses them you have plenty for backups.
