My wife and I decided some time ago to begin harvesting rain water, as it does get awfully hot and dry in West-Central TX. We purchased two 55-gallon drums, and devised a way to capture the falling rainwater from our roof (we don't have a gutter system) and within a week, filled our two barrels. Imagine my surprise when I realized just how heavy 440 lbs is, as I learned I should have installed spigots at the bottom of the barrels and had no clean and easy way to get the water out. Thank God for these types of pumps! I got mine in the mail yesterday, removed it from its shipping box, and went to work. The product is made of plastic and so I have no doubts that it will wear out in time, however yesterday it worked exactly as advertised! I would recommend it to family and friends! ... show more

I bought this to drain out 55 gallon drums of rain water into watering cans as part of my rain water collection project. I found the plastic pump would be a little loose in it's housing and made frequent pumping hit or miss for me. It took a few tries to get a good siphon and it made watering-can-filling kind of annoying so i stopped using it for that. However, when doing a long siphon (emptying the entire drum) i found it worked perfectly well. I ended up changing my drum configuration so I didn't end up using this one a lot. I think it works great for it's price. It's a nice drum-draining tool, but I wouldn't use it as part of a permanent fixture of a high-usage system. ... show more

Good price, and easy to set up and use. I use this to transfer water out of storage barrels I keep on hand. The suction pipe was longer than the depth of my 30 gallon barrel, but I didn't cut off excess. No need, unless I want to leave the pump installed (screwed into the top) of my barrel. Since the barrels are outside, I didn't want to leave the pump in the barrel. The water is stored for emergencies, only. The install and use of the pump was very intuitive, and the printed instructions are easy to follow. Terapump.net is the website for the product.
