  • Best of two pumps
Wow. Just received this. I sent a different one back this week, it wasn't engineered well. This one is better designed and built. CAP: Works well, and doesn't want to strip with moderate pressure (other pump felt like someone had used it already, and overtightened it) Also, the new pump had a "stop" so the cap wouldn't unscrew completely. (Like I want to crawl around in my basement looking for this very crucial piece) PUMP: Working stroke feels positive, with stops at both ends of pull strokes. Bellows are enclosed by red plastic and works on "push down" stroke. The other pump bellows were visible and worked on "pull up" stroke and felt like bellows would pull apart if pulled on too hard and overextended the bellows. MOUNTING THREADS: These threads are properly pitched. Only able to hand tighten 1 1/2 turns onto barrel bung hole, plenty of threads left. *note*~ It's easy to cross thread the barrel bung threads which are softer plastic than the pump threads. I repaired minor "mushing" or first couple bung threads simply by reinstalling barrel bung cap, and snugging up, loosening, snugging up. Threads repaired. but weren't really damaged, and were not the pump's fault. I wish there was a wrench for this, but not a big deal. The other pump threads mismatched my bung slightly. DISCHARGE HOSE RETAINER: It works. You can push the whole corrugated hose through this. The other pump would only allow the smooth 2" end of hose through the hose retainer hole. The larger diameter corrugated section wouldn't pass through. So, the hose fell out, dangling near my basement floor. PUMP ACTION: It maintained siphon action after initial priming strokes (maybe 3-6 strokes). The other pump wouldn't maintain siphon. I am happy that for the same price, I got a superior pump to the other one. THANK YOU. Your mileage may vary. ... show more

  • Fantastic little machine (Can I call a hand pump a ...
Fantastic little machine (Can I call a hand pump a machine?) Whatever, I ordered Thursday and arrived the following Monday, although I had expected it Saturday. Regardless, I used it to pump water out of a 55 gallon drum. It took 3 pumps to get it started and I was able to fill a 5 gallon bucket in about a minute - less than 2 minutes for sure. Worked very easily. The flow is continuous without pumping again and the flow is fairly strong. To stop it, you simply pick up the outbound flow line and it stops. I have no idea how long it will last, but I imagine if I take a little care of it, it will last quite awhile. The price is very reasonable for this item. I am ordering another one to have as back up or in case I want to use it for another fluid. My husband just read this and told me to add "Tell them it performs better that I thought it would from just looking at it." ... show more

  • Nice Product
Bought this item to add diesel fuel to my JD tractor because the gas tank opening on the tractor is about 5 feet from the ground. At this height, it's a job to hoist 5 gal containers and then pour them into the tank. While I am siphoning from a point of lower height to a point of higher height, this siphon works well. I do have to continue to "pump the handle" because of "uphill" filling of my gas tank. Worked like a charm. If I were to build a shelf to hold my diesel fuel containers, I could position the shelf higher than the tractor gas tank and then I would only have to prime the siphon. It would allow for quick filling and quick stopping when full. I probably won't build such a shelf as I don't want to store diesel fuel above ground level. But the product itself works well and I am pleased. ... show more

  • I Really Like This Pump!
I really like this pump! Because of the drought here in California our water prices have gone way up even though we have cut use by more than 50%. So cutting back on outdoor watering is a must. So I have been capturing rain water. I have a 55 gallon barrel that I use for this, which fills up fast from water dripping off of my roof. With a full 55 gallon barrel it is impossible to move and be able to put the water to use with ease, which is why I purchased this pump. This pump works great! It is a perfect size and fit for my 55 gallon barrel. The length of the hose is ideal for pumping into a 1 gallon container on the ground. It is quick and easy to use. Just open the top air valve and begin pumping. I was surprised at the volume of water that flows. I highly recommend this pump! ... show more

  • Reliable manual pump used for washer fluids and light oils in auto repair shop
Style: BPA-Free Drum Barrel Pump
We like this pump very much at our auto repair shop for washer fluid. It is a perfect fit for the 55gallon drums. Even though it is made of heavy plastic, it has held up well for 4yrs, which is the longest of any of the other manual pumps we have bought and used. I actually think the plastic material is what kept it from rusting or freezing up. We have used it on both oils and liquids with no problems. Never had any leakage problems if used correctly and I think it broke from being overly manhandled. Would recommend this pump for fluids and light oils. ... show more

  • No more "old school" ciphining
Style: BPA-Free Drum Barrel Pump
I purchased this pump to get the water out of my rain barrels that are sealed (given to me by a friend). There was no way to put in a spigot without damaging the barrels. Growing up, my grandfather taught me how to syphon using gravity. This pump operates on the same principle and it is much more convenient. It really couldn't be any easier to install or to use. I set the barrels up on pallets so the bucket would be lower than the water level in the barrels. A few pumps and the water comes right out. Twist the air cap at the top of the pump and the water stops flowing. While I am sure there are many applications for these pumps, I would definitely recommend these to anyone needing to pump water out of barrels. doitdad ... show more
