    • First, power supply issues, then pump started to fail
Style: DEF Electric Pump
Pump arrived as a box in a box (typical Amazon - 03 Sep) and was easy to set up in my 55gal plastic drum of E85. Used it about 6 times and it worked well. When I last tried to use it, it did not work. Plugged the supply in (a 12VDC, 3A) and checked the voltage, which showed 12VDC. Suspecting the supply anyway, I cut the plug off the supply and connected it to my battery charger (also 12VDC), plugged the pump in and it was working again. I then bought a 12VDC, 5A power supply for $10 (16 Nov - has more current capability and an LED to show it's working), spliced the plug on and was back in business. Today (16 Jan) I was pumping fuel, I heard the motor slow down and after about 5 seconds, the pump quit, but the LED remained lit. I removed the pump, checked the sump filter (it was clear), disassembled the pump and found the fuse blown (5A mini-fuse). Replaced the fuse and the pump ran about 3 seconds before the fuse blew again. I measured the impedance of the motor windings, which read 1.5 ohms. This reading would require an 8 amp fuse when running on 12 volts. Nominal impedance for a motor running at up to 3 amps on 12 volts would be 4 ohms. So I am left to assume the impedance of the motor is changing (i.e. failing), causing the fuses to blow, which will likely only get worse until the pump windings completely short or open. ... show more

I have 2.5 acres in the country. 2 riding mowers, 2 trim mowers, a leaf vacuum, a UTV and a few other gas powered things. Not enough for a big 300 gallon tank so a 55 gallon drum fits my needs. so this unit looked like the ideal thing. After about less then 40 gallons it quit. I contacted amazon and they referd me to the manufacturer. They never returned calls. I finally took it apart and found a blown fuse inside. The average person would not be able to take this apart and put it back together. I have 50 years of all kinds of electro mechanical experience. THE COMPANY LACKS CUSTOMER SUPPORT. I would suggest Amazon no longer sell this companies products ... show more

The pump was purchased to pump water from 55 gallon drum. It worked for 20 days, and then slowed down the output. On the 8th of June 2021 it stop getting water out. the electric motor works but it does not pull out any water.

I purchased 5 of these pumps, two for home use and 3 for use at work. All but 4 pumps have failed within 3 months. Terapump warrantied two of them but stopped responding to my emails about the other two that failed. Two were used for light oil use, and two for gasoline.
