I've hung Two 100 " wide x 96 long Thermal Insulating Grommet Style Curtains to cover the doors. One moderately heavy drape stacks to each side when open. My wall to wall was 80" and over the tub. Was easily able to assemble pole. I could have gone with the long or short extension but chose the long for more weight bearing strength. After I extended the main pole using the button I was excited to see what would happen. Then couldn't get it to hold in place. I pressed the button out one more notch and it was too long. I literally tried to pull the pole up into position and stopped, worrying I'd dent the wall. Oh boy. Now the instructions noted the 'fine tuning nut' in the assembly but I neglected to thuroughly read to the part where it said what to do with it. Frustration ensued, until finally reading a review mentioning how to use it. I thank that person. I had to get on a step ladder to get the pole high enough to its position, then had to do it again after I had moved the ladder over closest to the button and collar. When I twisted it, it immediately began to tighten (thank God). The bar is strong and does not move. I also purchased a new shower curtain, liner, and hooks to complete the whole thing. I want to be able to hang some items of clothing to air dry from time to time, and now I know it will not fall. My pole has a 55lb capacity and that is more than enough to satisfy my needs. ... show more

Wow. Great tension rod! I have a tall and wide window and was not able to hang a regular curtain rod, so I needed something that could span the window space AND be strong enough to hold the weight of that much drape without being pulled down every time someone opened or closed the drapes. This has worked beautifully so far (it has been about 2 months). I bought 2 more for my other large windows. It really seems strong and stable, does not sag in the middle. Was easy to install. I found it very difficult to install. And tonight it came down (without me pulling on it) and hit me in the nose causing a nose bleed. I followed directions on the installation but I think I should warn buyers. I am afraid I destroyed what it came in and cannot return and I also am afraid to use it.
