Description

Tekton sockets have large, stamped markings that are permanently impressed into the material by a roll-stamp die and are as large as possible while still being readable along the socket's curved surface. The exterior of the socket is chrome-plated to resist corrosion and wipe clean to a mirror finish. The interior is protected against corrosion with chrome plating that is supplemented with a clear coat or painted finish where needed for full coverage. The 6-point socket opening provides an exact fit and maximum contact for hex fasteners. Radiused corners prevent fastener round-off by applying force to a fastener's flat sides, rather than its corners. Four detent grooves provide a secure connection with the retaining ball of a drive tool, and beveled inner rims help guide the socket onto other tools. This set includes a carrying case

First off I’m a Mobile dealership heavy equipment mechanic who has tens of thousands in wrenches ratchets sockets tools ect from all the brands snap on mac matco gearwrench sunex ect. This is my first time buying Tekton tools aside from having bought a 1-5/8” made in USA Tekton angle wrench (which is high quality) add to my snap on angle wrench set. Aside from all that this is the biggest 3/8” drive chrome set ive seen on amazon or any tool truck. I bought these to have in my garage tool box to have another full set of metric and SAE sockets. While these are not made in USA sockets theyre still very good, while I wont be using these every day i wouldnt think twice to throw these in my service truck and use these daily on ratchets impacts or torque wrenches, the value here cant be beat. That being said the ratchet and breaker bar arent bad either, I did use this set alone to swap a steering stabilizer on a 97 K2500 Silverado and this set had every size I needed from 7/16 to 15/16” So if youre like me and have had this in your wish list for months just buy it its 100% worth the money. Update: used these around the home garage a few more times 100% sold these are great sockets going to buy a second set to put in my service truck. ... show more

I see what some reviewers say about the height of the normal size sockets. And I can see how that can be a pain in the budd - as they are larger than normal. I actually ran into an issue myself trying to get one in a tight space. But overall, I think the set is really nice. The size of the standard sockets should not make this a deal breaker for you. It's complete, the breaker bar works great. The chrome finish is much better than I expected. There is a nice range of sizes of course in both standard (larger) and extended. The ratchet just feels good in your hand. Perhaps a mechanic would go elsewhere, but this is great for the average joe and home owner. And I wouldn't worry about highlighting the number indicators in the case. It's easily readable as far as I'm concerned. Surprisingly, the company must have listened to a reviewer - as I had a piece of carboard to separate the sockets from the ratchet and breaker bar side. It might not last in the long run. This is my 2cnd order for Tekton Tools. My 1st purchase was for a 1/4" drive combination socket set. I was absolutely amazed at the quality, chrome finish and the preciseness of the fit and finish. I used the 1/4" set to almost completely strip down my 1986 Honda Big Red 250es. This set never backed down and I stressed it well above what anyone could ask. I have to say in the 20+ years I have worked in the Offshore Oil & Gas Business I have not seen a tool brand as nice as this for the price; durability is there and so is the fit and finish!! The tools are heavier duty than stanley / proto and a nicer chrome finish than S&K, If you know you know. They are absolutely beautiful "like jewelry" as the old timer nieghbor of mine said. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH TEKTON PRODUCTS!!! ... show more

Best kit I ever bought, so happy I pulled he trigger and made the purchase. Every size socket, shallow and deep, very convenient case, so it is portable, and keeps everything organized very well. Quality was fantastic, I am not a mechanic but trade, but dont see why this wouldn't be a great kit for even a mechanic. I'll probably buy the 1/2" drive kit next, so I have even larger sizes. Couldnt be happier with my decision to buy this kit. Only down fall, a little thick of a case to put in a drawer of a tool box, but the convenience of the case outweighs that for me. Also the case could be a little better, the hinges dont appear to be super strong, hopefully it lasts a long time but we will see, havent had any problems yet. Perfect for the mechanic at home in my opinion. Great kit! you will never need another 3/8 socket unless it's something specialty. It is the most complete 3/8 drive kit I could find anywhere. Also being 6 point sockets less chance of messing up the heads of bolts or nuts. Also quality control seems to be great on the kit I bought, no blemishes that I have found. ... show more

Bought this to fill out 6 point shallow and deep sockets, it's cheaper to buy this set than just the socket sets themselves. The sockets had zero finish issues and feel very solid. Love that the kit doesn't skip any sizes, my old made in USA Craftsman 12 point set skipped 16mm and another size or two. Didn't need the ratchet, already have plenty of much nicer made in USA Snap-On and made in Germany Hazet ratchets. For basically a free throw in, it's fine. It did go into neutral one of the first times I flipped it to reverse, flipped it back and forth, and the teeth now engage. It has low back drag, which is nice. While it is very hefty, it feels like it has cheap internals, not super smooth. Definitely recommend this set, and to upgrade the ratchet if/when you can afford to. I love American, German, and Japanese made tools, but couldn't justify paying hundreds of dollars more than these sockets. Update: I opened the ratchet up and discovered it was not lubricated from the factory, I added some Super Lube 21030 to everything in there. The ratchet is much smoother and actually feels very decent now. Highly recommend doing this. ... show more
