sure, you can get a Mylar metallic foil blanket that'll fit in your wallet. but, you'll have to listen to crinkle all night long. You'll oddly feel like a Thanksgiving Turkey under a browning tent... This is a substantial blanket. It feels like you are actually covered up by sumthun. I concede that wool "can" be scratchy.... a problem if one is naked. If you tend to keep your clothes "on" whilst sleeping in (or, around) a car, this could work very well. You might consider two. One pad the ground and one to wrap up in.

As others have said, this is a dense and heavy wool blanket. Mine came with a very strong chemical smell. For those who are saying it’s lanolin, it definitely isn’t. I was raised on a sheep farm and this isn’t what lanolin smells like. However, you can feel lanolin in the fibers-that’s the soft, almost greasy feeling you have when you touch it. The smell is quite a strong chemical smell in mine (red). I’m hoping that washing and drying it will remove the smell since I’ve aired it outside all day and it smells the same. Took a star off for the odor since I’m an asthmatic but it is a nice blanket. 11/9/22. I did wash it and dried on gentle. It lost a ton of fiber both in the washer and the dryer. Some of the smell went away but it still has quite a strong chemical smell. Perhaps the red ones are worse since another person who had a red one had a similar problem and some that have other colors haven’t had that concern. I’ll keep airing it out for awhile longer to see if I can handle the odor. If I can’t, I’ll have to return it:(

Bought this as an emergency blanket after my ‘original issue’ military wool blanket disintegrated. Outta The Box (OTB) the quality looks good, weight is good, color is good and feel is a little stiff (to be expected with wool). After the initial wash on the delicate cycle, the blanket felt softer as advertised, but already showed signs of fraying and does not give me a sense of confidence. I don’t plan on using the blanket much and will update if needed.

The red wool blanket has a very strong smell. I washed it twice with woolite and a little bit of vinegar and followed the directions with just a cold air dry in the dryer. ALOT of shedding occurred. It still has a smell. Although not as strong. I bought it to be used outside around a campfire. Its stored in a blanket bag for now. I would not suggest using it on a bed. Its a nice heavy wool blanket for camping, campfires, and emergencies for the price.

Overall very nice heavy wool blanket. It is an 80% blend blanket just FYI. That is the reason for 4 stars. I knew it was a blend blanket when I ordered it and am fine with that, however others should know before they click on it that it's a blend. Put mine out on the patio for a few days to air and breathe. Very nice for the cost.

Lots of reviews stated there was a harsh chemical smell but thought I would take a chance. That being said, it did have a smell but all wool does. It wasn't over powering by any means! I'm am going to utilize this blanket for camping/bug out bag. It just covered my queen size bed so I'm sure I can fold it over to cover ground and myself when outdoors. Overall I'm happy with quality, doesn't seem to have any flaws or loose stitching around edges. I live in a cold climate as is, wrapped it around myself and went outside for about an hour in 38° and I was toasty. Can't wait to field test it!
