This is a durable mid-weight survival blanket. I looked at many before choosing this one. I feel I made the best choice. I like that it has grommet holes for staking or tying to a tree for shelter. It's easily packed into it's storage sack and seems that it will last awhile. I like the multi-purpose aspect of the item. I wanted it for using as a barrier inside the tent for warmth and dryness. It didn't rain and my tent has a built-in waterproof footprint but I still wanted extra protection camping with my family (young child). The temps dipped at night and our sleeping bags are rated for warmer temps. I was mainly using this to reflect body heat while placed under our camping mat. Good purchase. This tarp definitely help keep body heat in. I break a sweet sleeping in it. There it's a bit of chemical smell out of the box. If you hang it outdoor for 48 hours and hose it a few times in between it will reduce most of the aroma. The item come with a carrying ziplock bag made of the same material. With my unscientific testing, thanks to the aluminum lining, placing my phone inside the bag and closing it will cause a smart phone to possibly lose data signal and reduced nearby Wi-Fi signal. To me this is a positive aspect of this material, but make of it what you will. ... show more

    • Popup gizmo on a budget. These work great.

I bought 2 of these to use as a cheaper alternative to a popup gizmo for my hybrid camper. They were just barely big enough. I used 1/4 inch binder clips to secure them to the seams of the canvas. So far they have held up well. Helps keep the heat out of the bunk ends keeping the camper cooler.

I wanted to keep my van cool during hot weather. I tested them on a 95 degree day with the uninsulated van closed up tight, no ac, and facing south. Over the 5 hour test initially outdoor temperature was 80, inside the van 75. 5 hours later still in full sun outside temperature was 98, inside was also 98.
