The media could not be loaded. I have tried to take bird videos for years and struggled to get up close. I've tried tripods for my cell phone, or running GoPro cameras until the battery is out or memory full (because they focus somewhat close). I explored game/trail cameras but they usually don't focus closer than several meters. Finally, I found in this camera something that is 1) motion activated, 2) focuses close up, and 3) is safe to leave out in the weather (unlike my cell phone). The photos here show a red breasted nuthatch perhaps 6 inches from the camera. The still photos are cropped. The video image shows you the full field of view. This little bird didn't like the camera near it's nest and attacked it a lot of times, but it stood up to the abuse. It's worth noting that the camera comes out of the feeder and has a standard 1/4" screw site at the bottom, which allows you to put it on a tripod, or the extra mounts included in the package. Very happy with this birthday gift to myself. PS you'll want to get rechargeable batteries - 4 AAs. ... show more

Product does meet the described function but is time consuming and cumbersome to use because it requires removal of the chip to view any images. I put it in our white elephant trade.

    • Not too convenient when taking camera out of feeder
Feeder works ok and camera seems to take good pictures of birds. Setup was easy but it’s not very convenient when you have to remove the camera.

Here at the Randall Davey Audubon Center and Sanctuary in Santa Fe NM we’ve had a lot of fun discovering who has been visiting our feeders, especially when we aren’t looking. We set this up at one of our feeding stations (recommended so birds show up fast!) and discovered right away that the birds weren’t shy at all. Finches, Black Headed Grosbeaks, Lesser Gold Finches, Pine Siskins, and Juniper Titmice to name a few visitors. The battery life has been really good, especially when you can customize the settings to your liking. We’ve even purchased some rechargeable batteries to keep it going sustainably. The micro SD card holds a ton of images! The Technaxx comes with a lot of innovative mounting options. We’ve used it on trees and feeding stations alike. Hope you all enjoy!
