  • Superb supplement to your new Apple laptop
Like the many other "Teach Yourself Visually" books, "MacBook Pro" is an excellent book for anyone who has or is planning to get an Apple laptop but may want some help finding out about and navigating all that it has to offer. "MacBook Pro" is set up logically, and the reader can easily find the area he or she wants to learn about and simply go through the step-by-step instructions. The photos are excellent, and they are photos, not diagrams or sketches. The index is easy to use as well, and you will definitely learn a great deal about your new Mac by using this handbook. Highly recommended, especially for the technologically challenged. ... show more

  • Very easy to read
I like this manual to teach myself the Mac computer and I can easily understand and comprehend this book. It is easy to follow along while reading and applying the knowledge to the computer. It is a great reference tool for looking up specific topics that I have questions about. The color photos and diaagrams are easy to read and understand ... show more

  • Best of MacBook Gudies
I needed one for MacBook Air, but Teach Yourself MacBook Air came out in 2008 and is a bit out oif date as to OS since it references the Apple Leopard OS and not the more recent Moutnatin Lion OS. So I purchased this 2013 MacBook Pro one, which is fine as to program guidance since the Pro and Air have pretty much the same OS. I then bought the 2008 MacBooK Air one too - used one pretty cheap on Amazon - which covers the essentials about the Air. And the 2008 Air discusses iPhoto which the Pro one does not. So strongl;y recommend obtaining both. No other MacBook guides have images of what you will see on the screen for each step of attempting different tasks with corresponding numbered steps that make most tasks manageable. For me, 1st time to any Apple product, indispensible for mastering the Air. ... show more

  • Fairly readable by the techie challenged.
Reasonably understandable by the techie challenged. Plenty of screenshots and graphics help get the points across. Not too much techspeak.

  • Great Book for Us older Microsoft Users Now Learning the Use of a Mac
Being in my fifth decade, I gotta admit that the Teach Yourself Visually books are great to get our slower brain cells to quickly learn a new software and/or operating system! These books are not written by or for techno-geeks. They are written for the average non-engineering type who just want to get on their machine and flip to the right page of the book to learn on how to do what one needs from their MacBook Pro. If you were a Microsoft user for many years and your kids or grand kids aren't around to show you the tips and quick tricks to using a Mac quickly, buy this book and keep it next to your MacBook Pro. It has a great index, the how-to's are easily understandable, and you will soon impress the kids/grand kids with your new Mac understanding the next time they visit! ... show more
